Better Together Release Hop

Welcome to Verve's Better Together Release Hop! There's a brand new Verve set releasing today and we're celebrating with a blog hop! I wanted to go neutral with a pop of color on this card and settled on some lovely coral stitched ribbon to draw your eye:

For the background, I stamped the dotted stamp from this set in smokey grey, so that it wasn't too bold. I then added a doily and the sentiment stamped on a Curvy Bookplate die, outlined with liquid pearls. I added a layer of the Pennant Trim die, to which I garnished with lots of pearls. The strip of pearls actually covers a seam between the two papers. Sometimes you gotta cover your tracks ;)

Want to win some shiny new Verve? We'll be picking a random commenter on one of the hop spots below to win a $40 gift voucher to the Verve store! So be sure to leave a little comment on all the blogs below to increase your chances! Check out the Verve Blog today for all the prize info and deadlines!

CASE Study...Hugs and Smiles

Happy Thursday morning, CASE Study friends! It's our second week with multi-talented muse, Joni Nina Andaya! Today's card is full of beautiful color...to which I've chosen to illustrate on my card, but to a smidgen lesser degree....

I wanted to focus on the colors, but concentrate them in a smaller area. I also gleaned the "Hugs and ..." sentiment from Joni's card. I added a couple of punched butterflies, flowers and a leaf to mimic the bright colors. The rest of the background is muted using Maja Design's Vintage Autumn collection papers.

Here's Joni's card:

I modeled my sketch after this week's Mojo Monday design:

March Diva Dare

"Do The Polka", March Diva Dare

Welcome to March's Diva Dare!  This month's Dare is entitled "Do The Polka".

What we're daring you to do this month is to use polka dots somewhere on your card. Whether you choose to strut your polka dot stamps, paper, ribbon or all of the above, we want to see you do the polka!

And....I'm peeking Verve's newest stamp set, this one is called 'Better Together'. I simply love Julee's style of mixing fonts on one sentiment. I also adore these darling rustic arrows included in the set too. I stamped them on an Occasion Frame die after I lightly inked the edges with some Vintage Photo distress ink. I added some copper accents, flowers, twine, a doily and wrapped it up, package style, with Verve's Polka Dot Basics collection

Deadline to link your cards is 8PM Mountain on Wednesday, March 26th.  Entries must be posted 3/7 or later, include at least one Verve product, polka dots, and be linked up to the linky widget by 8pm Mountain on 3/26/14.

During this month's Diva Dare, there are 2 prizes up for grabs!
Win a $40 Gift voucher to Verve Stamps! Take our "Do The Polka" Dare and link up your card (created March 7th or later) to the linky widget below to be eligible to win.  One participant will be randomly selected to win the gift voucher.  You can enter as many times as you like, but each card needs to be in a separate post.

Win a set of your choice! For another chance to win some new Verve, leave a little comment love on our design team's "Do The Polka" Diva Dare posts!  One lucky commenter will win a Verve stamp set of his or her choice, so be sure to tune in each day!  Comment deadline to be entered in our prize drawing is March 26, 2014.

Winners will be announced on March 27, 2014.

- Go forth and get inky! We DARE you! -

Viva La Verve...I Believe In You

Happy Friday Verve friends! Today marks the first week of Viva La Verve sketches for March; our lead off hostess is the brains and talent behind Verve...Julee! The starting month sketches also include a color inspiration photo and I've pictured that palette below the sketch. But first, here's my interpretation of Julee's design:

My card features the Fabulous You set, highlighted with greens, brown and blue. I added a pretty green bow and some Zva Creative pearl flourishes. The rectangle under the sentiment was faux stitched with a white gel pen. (I was away and didn't have my sewing machine, though I think the bold stitch adds to the whimsy.) This paper collection is from Maja Design, this particular one is called Crea Diem.

We'll have 4 March challenges... play along with us and link each of your challenge creations to our Entry Form link list. The link list will be up for the whole month and we'll choose a random winner at the end of the month to win a $100 gift voucher to Verve.  Challenge rules can be found on the Rules tab at the top of the blog or by clicking here.  You don't have to complete all of the sketches to win, but the more cards you enter, the greater your odds of winning are.  Verve stamps are not required to play, but we do love to see 'em!  We'll also be highlighting a couple of our favorite link-ups each Tuesday, so be sure to get your links in if you're crafting over the weekend.

Have fun and thanks for stopping by!

You Are Beautiful

Hello CASE Study friends! We're back with a brand new muse for March and that lady is Joni Nina Andaya! Joni's card is mostly neutral with just a touch of color and that's how I wanted to convey my CASE:

I used the black and white stripes, but in a larger volume. I added the green accents as a punch of color and the pink flower to mimic the one on Joni's card.

March Diva Inspiration Hop

Welcome to Verve's March Diva Inspirations Hop. It's the 5th of the month and that means it's hopping time! This month we've got a fabulous challenge that's sure to put a spring in your step! So in addition to a comment prize hidden along the hop, you can play along with the challenge and link up your creation for a chance to win another prize!  Each month the Verve Divas get together and bring you some oldie but goodie stamps sets from Verve...each one of us featuring a previously released set, and in the case of some of us, pairing it with a newly released set.

I'm loving these sparkly hydrangeas...I purchased a few different colors. These particular flowers matched Stampin' Up!'s Groovy Guava stitched ribbon perfectly so I paired them together. This stamp is from a real old set, Celebration of Thanks. I just never get tired of this set!

Then I decided to pair old with new:

I used the "Forever and Always" from the previously released No Matter What set and matched that with "Smitten" from the freshly inked More Than Love set. I inked up a square of pink paper, distressed the edges with Black Soot distress ink and then added a layer of clear crystal glitter to the perimeter. The glitter helped to tone down the black a bit and add some vintage/girly-ness as well. I also added some paper flowers, satin ribbon, daisy chain lace and Onyx Pearl Liquid pearls.

Our March challenge is Spring Has Sprung:

It's time to ditch the winter blues! Create a card that sings Spring using inspirational quotes, pretty colors and florals or themes that celebrate new life. Whether you draw inspiration from the graphic or blaze your own trail, just show us what spring means to you!

Need a little inspiration? Check out the blogs linked below to see what the other Divas did with the challenge! It's sure to be a treat, and speaking of treats, we've got a prize for one lucky commenter along the hop! Check out the Verve Blog today for all the prize info and deadlines.

Easter Wishes

Happy Tuesday friends!  I had off the past 2 days and was able to get a bit of my craft on...in the form of this week's Mojo Monday challenge. Pairing Verve's Hoppy Easter set (which is on sale right now) with Maja Design's Vintage Autumn Basics collection (you wouldn't think they'd go together...) I've made this vintage card:

I did take some liberties...I added two banners, one for the sentiment and one as a piece of ribbon and the little box behind the flower became a white pearl flourish on my card. The metallic flower is two pieces... I combined 2 floral designs to create this look. The fabric bow is a sticker and most of the edges are distressed.

Here's Julee's sketch:

I'll be back tomorrow with a little Verve Diva inspiration...thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Paper Sweeties March Inspiration Challenge #17 - 'Polka Dot Love'

Happy March 1st friends! Every start to the month, the Paper Sweeties invite you to play along in an inspirational color challenge...and it's a bonus if you use Paper Sweeties stamps! I made a CAS card today; I gleaned this design from a fellow crafter, Jenny Grotherus. She made me the most beautiful 'thank you' card and this is my take on her design using the colors pictured below:

Using Maja Design's Vintage Summer Basics, I cut the middle strip of paper, border punched the top and bottom, then adhered a strip of the rose patterned paper. I stamped the sentiment in the middle and added two strips of white pearls. Easy!

Paper Sweeties hosts monthly challenges on their blog! Each month on the 1st we will have a brand new inspiration for you to play along with. You can enter as many times as you wish throughout the month — the more times you enter, the more chances you’ll have to win!

It’s as easy as 1-2-3 to create, share and win:

1. CREATE a card or project based on the current inspiration graphic using any of your favorite crafty supplies! You’ll get an extra vote if you use ANYTHING from the Paper Sweeties Shop!! Use the graphic as a starting point for your project — be inspired by the colors, shapes, theme — anything goes … most important — HAVE FUN and let our photo inspiration spark your creativity!

2. POST a DIRECT LINK to your project in their Inlinkz gallery — please use the URL to your actual project post (not your entire blog) so we can easily find your creation. You do not need to have a blog to enter — you can use any online gallery such as Flickr, Pinterest, Facebook or Splitcoast Stampers (keyword papersweeties)! You can pin your Paper Sweeties creations directly to our Friends of Paper Sweeties Pinterest Boardcontact Debbie for an invitation to contribute!

3. LINK back to the blog post so your readers can easily find us!

Our challenge will run for the entire month. You can play along as many times as you wish — the more times you play, the more chances you have to win! The challenges will end at 12 pm EST on the last day of each month. The new challenge will be revealed on the 1st of each month. The winner of the previous month’s challenge will be announced on the 1st of each new month, will win a $20 gift certificate to the boutique and will be invited to Guest Design with the Sweeties next month!
