Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Birthday, Happy CASE Study!

Happy Thanksgiving CASE Study and blog friends! Here in the US we're spending the day preparing lots of food and preparing to consume lots of food...I personally am taking my family over to my mother's house for a wonderful meal. I will be going over there in my pajamas cos I want to be comfortable all day long! We have one final week of delightful inspiration from Keisha Campbell...I was inspired by her card to make my project a card within a card...take a lookie:

The above photo shows the outside of the card with the smaller card on the inside.

This photo is of the inner card.

Here they are together. I used Maja Design's brand new Vintage Frost Basics collection. The 'Joy' stamp was released yesterday by Verve...this set is called Christmas Joy. The inner card is also stamped with a sentiment from this set. The inner photo was cut from a page of  Maja's papers and I outlined it with some Zva Creative pearls.

Here's Keisha's card:

New Verve...Christmas Wishes

Brand new Verve releases today and we're celebrating with a blog hop!  Hop along to each of the blogs below to see a little inspiration with the new stamps, then be sure to head on over to the Verve Store to check out Verve's Thanksgiving Sale (25% off all stamps & dies) that starts today!
Here are a couple of cards I made with Christmas Joy and Every Heart Plain Jane respectively:

This card is made with Maja Design's Vintage Frosted collection. The tag was cut from one of the pages and I stamped "Christmas Wishes" from Verve's newest set, Christmas Joy, on the tag. I distressed all the edges, added a glittered chipboard snowflake and two crocheted flowers that sorta resembled snowflakes. The bottom edge is cut with a decorative 'Deco Fan' border cutter. I sponged the edges and added the pearls to the middles of each design. The top of the tag is tied off with a bit of vintage lace, twine and jingle bells. Then I went with a card that is on the other end of the spectrum...

This one started off CAS, but quickly ended up beyond that. The sentiment is Verve' Plain Jane style stamp, this one is called "Every Heart". I added a perimeter of liquid pearls and a Bella Rose die cut underneath. To give it a pop of color, I added these paper flower poinsettias that I purchased from the $1 bin at Michael's. Quick and easy!

CASE Study...So Graceful

Morning CASE Study fans and blog friends! Happy Thursday to you! This is our 3rd week with wonderfully talented Keisha Campell! Here is a card I made using Maja Design's Vintage Autumn Basics collection and a Verve stamp...shocking, I know. :)

I wanted to keep the overall theme of the flower/leaf placement, the texture of the burlap (though mine is a bit more 'holey') and the stripes. I had this nest embellishment left over from when I did a tutorial, so I thought it would look sweet next to the line of blue flowers. I added a Zva Creative white crystal flourish and a strip of vintage lace, as well.

Here's Keisha's darling card:

November Diva Dare...Shape Up

Morning blog friends!  It's time for a new challenge at Verve, this month's Diva Dare entitled "Shape Up". What we're daring you to do this month is to create a card or project including a common shape. For example: hexagons, chevrons, arrows, triangles, hearts, stars etc. Lots of fun ways you can go with this dare and I can't wait to see what you create!
Here is my card using this month's dare:

Now, you can get pretty broad with this challenge, I mean any shape is a shape, right? I chose to use Verve's newly released Holiday Treats set stamped on a Tag shape (Verve's A Cut Above Tagged Rectangle die). I added lots of rectangles, a banner and some circles (in the form of flowers and bells). The die cut is from an old K & Co. Christmas tag set and I added a bit of Star Dust Stickles to the floral arrangement she's carrrying...just for a bit of pizzazz. All edges are distressed and I also added a square of burlap behind the images.

Deadline to link your cards is 8PM Mountain on Wednesday, November 27th.  Entries must be new (posted 11/8 or later), include at least one Verve product, include a common shape, and be linked up to the linky widget by 8pm Mountain on 11/27/13.

During this month's Diva Dare, there are 2 prizes up for grabs!

Win a $40 Gift voucher to Verve Stamps! Take our "Shape Up" Dare and link up your card (created November 8th or later) to the linky widget below to be eligible to win.  One participant will be randomly selected to win the gift voucher.  You can enter as many times as you like, but each card needs to be in a separate post.

Win a set of your choice! For another chance to win some new Verve, leave a little comment love on our design team's "Shape Up" Diva Dare posts!  One lucky commenter will win a Verve stamp set of his or her choice, so be sure to tune in each day!  Comment deadline to be entered in our prize drawing is November 27, 2013.

Winners will be announced on November 28, 2013.

- Go forth and get inky! We DARE you! -

CASE Study...Memories Are Timeless

Morning friends! Today marks another challenge over at CASE Study! It's our second week with Keisha Campbell and has she designed the sweetest tags for us to glean! First I'll show you how I interpreted it and then I also included some close-up shots of the details, then we'll take a look at Keisha's:

In keeping with the theme of Keisha's project, I made a tag using Maja Design's Autumn Basics collection. All edges are roughed up and I layered the outside perimeter with some coarse crystal glitter. The inner rose panel is outlined with some Platinum Stickles. I added some Zva Creative white pearl flourishes, a Bella Rose die which is adorned with White Opal Liquid Pearl dots and an array of fabric flowers. The sentiment was cut out from No. IV-bs at the bottom of the page...Marie always includes sweet sentiments and strips of heavenly shabby designs at the bottoms of the pages.

CASE Study...So Happy for You

Morning CASE Study fans! It's a new month, so that means we've got a whole 'nother round of inspiration for everyone! This month is the lovely Keisha Campbell! Her adorable card is posted below, but first, how I've interpreted it and transformed it into my own shabby, comfortable style:

I changed up the colors, the style and omitted the paper bow.  I decided to somewhat mimic the design, keep the 'happiness' theme and add the banner. The papers are from Maja Design's Ska vi ta en fika collection of papers. The stamps are from Verve's So Happy set. The heart is actually plastic, but is so shiny that it resembles metal. I snaked the seam binding through it and added a lilac pearl.

Verve's November Diva Inspirations Hop

Welcome to Verve's November Diva Inspirations Hop. It's the 5th of the month and that means it's hopping time. We love to get our Verve inky around here, whether they're hot off the presses, or a little worn around the edges. So today you'll see Diva creations to inspire you with both old and new Verve! It's sure to be a treat, and speaking of treats, one lucky commenter along the hop will win Verve's October Release CollectionCheck out the Verve Blog today for all the details. If you're following the hop list, you've come here from Maureen's blog. Welcome! For my card today, I pulled out Verve's inspiring Wings of Love &  Chevron Love sets, Wavy Hearts die, Signature Ribbon collection and Pastel Sequin Mix and pairing it with some Maja papers, this is what I've done with it:

This top card is actually my second attempt. After making the card below and experiencing a sleep...the next morning that brown striped ribbon rubbed me the wrong way so I made some changes. On the top sample, I added another Wavy Heart and included a sentiment from a formerly released set, this one is called Wings of Love. I then Modge Podge'd the hearts and added some coarse crystal glitter to them. The difference in colors is due to the change in location...natural sunlight always brings out the best of the colors, but alas...when the crafting bug strikes at night, we must heed it's call...   Haha....

I stamped my sentiment on a tag that I cut out of Maja Design's Heritage paper. I stapled a small tail of Verve's Signature Chocolate seam binding to the top of the tag as well as adding some sequins. The hearts were punched out with the Wavy Hearts die and I outlined the perimeters with Platinum Stickles. There's a length of ruffled striped grosgrain ribbon behind the tag to break up some of the color. All the edged are distressed and as a last minute decision, I decided to stitch a little line of thread across the top of the vertical banner.

The dies:

The sequins:

I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch as my design:

Vintage Card Cafe Challenge...Visiting the Nordic Countries

Good Sunday morning peeps! Today marks a new challenge at the Vintage Card Cafe...we're exploring the traditions of far away places...and we're starting with those cold, Nordic countries, Sweden, Norway and Finland. Now I'm familiar with some of the styles of Sweden as my most favorite pattern papers, Maja Design papers, come from there. Our assignment? To make a card featuring one, or more, of the following elements: Scandanavian embroidery (knitting item), Scandanavian patterns, straw (raffia), straw toys, deer, wooden ornaments, flashlights, fireplaces (hearth, fire), angels, wreathes. Here is my sample with a sweet ephemeral angel and a raffia bow:

The background paper is Maja Design's Deck the Halls paper from their It's Christmas Time line of papers. I added a crocheted frame and an angel in the middle. The edges are distressed and then I outlined the perimeter with some Zva Creative pearl lines. The flowers are from the $1 bin at Michael's...they just needed a little fluffing up. I added a raffia bow and two jingle bells in coordinating colors. The sentiment is from Verve's latest release, this set is called Holiday Treats.
Make sure to check out what the rest of the Design Team has created by visiting this site here.
Have a great day and enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Guest Designing for Scraps of Elegance

Happy November 1st blog friends! Hope everyone had a nice Halloween celebration yesterday...my husband is a nut for decorating...lots of scary monsters, ghouls and evil pumpkins...however, we did run out of candy! Again! Apparently, our yard isn't too menacing..there are many brave souls that are rewarded with treats after passing by all the sights and sounds! How's about we get down to the real reason you've come to visit...to see some artwork using Melinda Kelly's Scraps of Elegance Scrapbook kits. I was asked a few months ago to be a guest designer and happily accepted! Here are a few cards I made with the lovely contents of the 'Thankful' kit:

The kit is chock full of  sweet papers, lovely flowers, resin accents, elegant pearls, shabby ribbons and darling charms. I received my kit on a Monday and made all of these cards on Tuesday...that's how inspired I was! I can tell you that that does not happen very often...7 cards in one afternoon? That's got to be a record...
Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day!
