Happy Sunday friends! Today is the last day of the month of June and I do have a project to share with you today....the Vintage Card Cafe Challenge is back on for this week after a week-long vacation for the administrators. I've heard that the other options are just as easy so make sure to choose one before tomorrow!

I hope you'll join us at the Vintage Card Cafe challenge as well!

CASE Study...Just Fluttering By

Hello friends! I've got a card to share with you today based on CASE Study's current Muse...Lisa Spangler! I have to admit that I looked at this card for some time and came up with nothing....came back to it again...nothing still, then I just happened to glance over to my left and saw this paper pack that (in my mind) would work out perfectly! I'm just glad my mind and my fingers were on the same page (no pun intended :) Here's my card based on Lisa's pictured below:

Of course, I muted my colors. I was inspired by the large background pattern and the 'hello' sentiment. I pulled out some Skipping Stones Design stamps and used this sweet sentiment from their Dandelion Dreams set. The papers are from Sassafras and they're called 'sunshine broadcast'. I added a Zva creative crystal flourish for a bit of interest as well.

Here's the card we're working with this week:

Zva Creative June DT Blog Hop

Zva Creative and my fellow Design Team members welcome you to our June blog hop! We are excited about it and look forward to sharing our new work with you!

Today's Blog Hop begins at Zva Creative's blogBe sure head on over to check it out! You will also find a complete list of all the participating blogs there (in case there is a glitch along the way).

As you know, Zva offers many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals.  If you like what you see along the hop you can find a list of stores and online retailers that sell Zva HERE.
My color assignment for this month is pink. I couldn't think of a more appropriate color as it's one of my favorites! I did a little manipulating with some pearl lines to come up with this card here:

The large pink pearls on the scalloped oval were cut from a strip of pink pearl lines. The inner oval was also using these pearl lines, albeit these were the smaller version and just kind of coerced into turning some corners. At the top and bottom where the curve was sharper, I had to cut the strip and lay down 2 to 3 pearls at a time so that they would lay right. I took those same small white pearl lines and outlined the outer perimeter of the card as well.

Here are the Zva Creative products I used:
PEW-03CB-117 (White Pearl Lines 0.3cm)
PE-02CB-108 (Hot Pink/Soft Pink Pearl lines (0.3cm & 0.5cm)

If you would like to play along with our design team, just follow along the blog path.  I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way!
The Blog Hop starts today, June 24th and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, June 25th.
***Prizes***
Hidden on FIVE of the designer's blogs is a Zva Creative prize package! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Blog Hop post... you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. However, the more times you comment along the blog hop path, the more chances you will have to win.

The 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, June 26th on Zva Creative's blogWe will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to Zva's blog on Wednesday to see if you are a winner!

The blog hop begins here at Zva Creative's blog. Your next stop is the super talented Irene Tan. Enjoy!

Thank you for joining us!

P.S. Mark your calendar to join us again on July 29th for our next Zva blog hop!

Feeling Brand New

Happy Thursday! At CASE Study it's time for another card by our June Muse Lisa Spangler! I have to admit that I didn't have any sentiments even close to the one that Lisa used and I de-CAS-ified my version of her card here:

This card was made with Maja Design's Walking in the Forest collection. The colors were a toned down version of Lisa's which muted is much more my style. I roughed up all the edges, used some of Verve's new ribbon collection called Summer Sailing and some lovely Zva crystal flourishes. The butterfly image was cut out of a sheet of the Walking in the Forest papers. The flower is from Prima and the bubbly accents was cut off of an arrangement in my home. (From the back of the arrangement ;)

Here's Lisa's fabulous card:

Here's a peek at the collection of papers I used:

June Diva Dare

This month's dare pays tribute to Diva Jen (Deconstructing Jen) who is an amazing colorer (word can be found in any crafter's dictionary wink, wink) and Diva Janelle (Rain Puddles Design) who also colors beautifully, often uses paint on her cards and is a wonderful mixed media artist. So what we're daring you to create this month is a card using coloring and/or painting. If you want to kick the dare up a notch, you can add kraft card stock to the mix (Jen's specialty) and/or make a mixed media card (Janelle's specialty). Here is the link to Splitcoast Stamper's "Mix-Ability" Forum for some tutorials and ideas on Mixed Media should you want to try it out. This is not a requirement but a fun "extra" should you wish to add it to your card.Just remember to use at least one Verve product on your creation!

Here is my take on the dare:

In honor of Jen...I added kraft and lots of color (noun), but kept my coloring (verb) to a minimum (she's also a school teacher, so she should appreciate my use of the same word in two different forms :) The flower is from Verve's Surely Goodness set. I heat embossed the design in white embossing powder and colored in the petals with an Aqua painter and dye inks. To add a bit of pizazz, I also dotted the petals with Liquid Pearls dimensional paint. (That's about as far as my 'mixed media' tribute goes {tips hat to Janelle}.) The leaves are stamped from the Dream Big set and punched out with the coordinating Dreamy Leaves die. They got doused with liquid pearls, too! The sentiment is also stamped/heat embossed and that phrase is from Let It Be. The heart border down the right side is from Verve's Scalloped Trim Trio set and I used negatives of the punched out hearts to add to the sentiment. The ribbon is a new collection from Verve, this one is from the Red, White and Beautiful set. Some paper piercing, a button and twine bow and it's all good!

I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch for my design:

There are prizes involved...

CASE Study...Hello Friend

Hello CASE Study friends...we're back with another week of inspiration a la Lisa Spangler! Lisa has a lovely cozy, homey type feel to her cards. I wanted to try to convey that feeling with my card, using some vintage Maja Design papers:

I wanted to show off as much of the background paper as possible...since it is so lovely and in keeping with Lisa's design, I kept my embellishment to an {Andrea} minimum. The focal point consists of a piece of burlap, a spray of pearls, a seam binding bow and a pearl encrusted gem button. I later added the hemp bow and the sentiment stamped on a piece of vellum that was bannered-off with a square punch. (?) Not proper English, but alludes to what I mean.

Here's Lisa's sweet card:

Maja Design's New Sofiero Collection

Hello Maja friends and fans! I was just alerted today to the fact that Maja Design will be introducing a new limited collection soon called Sofiero. I wanted to give you all a glimpse of the vintage goodness that will be published very soon....

This new collection is a summer celebration of the historical gardens of Sofiero that is cared for and developed in honor of its legacy.

Smell the roses while you walk through The Rose Paths of Sofiero. You can see the fairytale castle glimpse in the background while you stroll around the castle’s world famous gardens. Walk through Princess Margareta’s Flowerstreet and be amazed by her sense of colours and gardening. Head on to The Dahlia District before crossing the garden down to the gates by the sea. Listen to the waves and enjoy the sun. A wedding couple passes by giggling. The summer is here to stay.

But just like summer, the Sofiero collection will go away...being that it is a limited edition, once the pages are sold out there will be no more. However, for a chance to win the collection, leave a comment on this posting telling us what you think of it. We will present three happy winners June 25th.

Good luck!

Everything's Gonna Be Alright

Hello friends! I had the day off today and since I haven't played along with Mojo Monday in quite a while, I thought I may give it a go. I broke out some of my favorite shabby papers, Vintage Summer Basics collection by Maja Design... and stamps from one of my favorite stamp companies...Verve to come up with this here:

I ultra distressed all of the edges and used some gold sewing thread on the inside perimeter of the floral panel. Hard to tell that it's floral since I covered up all the gorgeous flowers on it. :( The sentiment is from Verve's latest release...this one is called Let It Be. I added a vellum border punched with a Doily Lace punch from Martha Stewart and added just a bit of distress ink to make them stand out (not too much, though). I also added lots of Zva Creative pearls, cos they're my favorite. :)

Here's the sketch for Mojo Monday:
Thanks for joining me today!

Stamps: Let it Be (Verve Stamps)

Pinterest Inspired Christmas...and a Tutorial

Hello Maja friends! I decided to shake things up a bit and make a little Christmas card here...though the temps here in New Jersey are pushing 90F! I keep a file under my Pinterest account called 'Card Inspiration'. I never know when inspiration will strike, so if it happens to be a Christmas themed card in June...I go with it! This particular picture also encouraged me to make a tutorial after I figured out how the template was made. The original picture credit can be found here. First off, here's the end product using Maja Design's Vintage Winter collection:
MerryChristmasMajaClean
I started the process by cutting out 4 hearts, two with 'Wishing You' paper and two with Soft Suede card stock. I stacked the four of them together and with my paper piercer, I punched out holes around the perimeter. I stacked them together so that the holes would all line up when I went to sew them together:
PaperHeart1Next I dabbed the edges of the fronts with Walnut Stain distress ink:
PaperHeart2I need the hearts to malleable, so I spritzed them with water and crinkled them up:
PaperHeart3PaperHeart4I carefully unfolded them and waited for them to dry before sewing. To give them a puffed up appearance, I added a bit of crinkled tissue to the inside as I was sewing them closed. The brown heart is the back and obviously the printed side is the front:
PaperHeart5aI then began meticulously sewing the perimeter, using a blanket stitch through the pre-pierced holes:
PaperHeart6Then I added an inside perimeter of sparkle using Ranger's Platinum Stickles:
PaperHeart7Lastly I added the 'Merry' and 'Christmas' banners, cut out of the same "Wishing You" paper:
PaperHeart8Here are some close ups of the hearts:
MerryChristmascuB
MerryChristmascuaMerryChristmascuThe Maja Design papers that I used were: Wishing You, Christmas is Coming, Cozy Inside and Cozy Inside (bs).
Vintage WinterOther supplies used were: a paper flower, Zva Creative flourish, burlap, jute, gold stars, a doily and a paper distresser.

Thanks for joining me today...hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

CASE Study...A New Muse

Ok, so who let May get away from us so quickly? It seems as though these days I blink and another month has gone by! On a good note, a new month means a new Muse at CASE Study so without further delay, I'd like to tell you that we are CASEing Lisa Spangler! Seems as though the CAS members of our team have been getting real treats lately and I'm glad that I've got another opportunity to practice my CAS technique! Here's my take on this week's card, followed by Lisa's pictured below:

How many of you remember those spectrum ink pads that Stampin' Up! sold years and years ago? I think that they were included in some of my first purchases back in '93! And guess what? It's still juicy! I simply clicked the pads together, laid my white panel over the top and delicately rubbed my fingers over the back to draw up the ink. I wasn't as careful as I had intended as I got a smudge of orange off to the left, which would be covered up by those silver stars....

Paper Sweeties June Release

Hello blog friends! Today is the final day of the Paper Sweeties June release samples...my card today features a new set, Live Laugh Love and an older set called Spring is Here. I decided to go with a Shower theme and keep it all white. Here's my sample:

I started off embossing a white panel with the Rebecca EF. I decided to jazz it up a bit with some white liquid pearls on all of the flourish designs. I then added the lace, Whimsy Circle, rosette and glittered heart over top. I had to add those trio of pearls and the top and bottom because I had originally stuck something there, didn't like it, but ripped the paper in the removal process.  Lastly, I added the 'Showered with Love' banner.

Come see what the other Paper Sweeties' design team gals have come up with using June's release stamps.
Thanks for coming by...and enjoy the rest of your day!
