Shine Brightly Little Star

Still working my way off the beaten path lately, I was wanting to participate with Splitcoast Stampers CAS challenge for this week...which turned out to be a color challenge. Tempting Turquoise, Certainly Celery and Pretty in Pink was on the menu and I wanted to do something different. Whenever I get the urge to try something new {and} mojo is not cooperating, I go to Pinterest and kill a few hours checking stuff out. I came to this pin that I had saved a while ago and this is what I morphed it into:

Initially I wanted to bunch the trio of stars together and tie them off with a bow, but it turned out that they were too big and their sticks were too small. Plan b...make a 'shelf' to stick them into and make them stand up by themselves. I took a 1 1/2" white card stock panel, border punched the top and bottom, scored twice at 1/2" increments and punched top and bottom holes times 3. Stuck the toothpicks into them and voila! I made the toothpick stars by making two copies of the largest Starry die cut out and attaching them together with the toothpick in between. I did snip off the bottoms so that I wouldn't skewer myself. The other dies that came out looked cute surrounding the big stars, so I glued them up top. I used the coordinating Shining Star and Remember This stamp sets from Verve for my sentiment.

Stamps: Shining Star , Remember This (Verve Stamps)
Paper: Pawsitively Prints dsp, Tea Party dsp, Whisper White (Stampin' Up!)
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Starry die (Verve~A Cut Above dies), Dotted Scallop border punch, 1/16" hole punch, scoring board, toothpicks
Size: 4 1/4" X 5 1/2"
