Maja Design January Mood Board Challenge

Good morning! Today there's a post up at Maja Design blog using a newly created challenge...the Maja Design Mood Board. This is a great way to jump start your creativity...soak in the picture, the quote and the catch phrases and see where inspiration takes you! Take a look at the picture below:

Here's how the mood board was described to me:
Definition mood board - n:
a board used by designers on which samples of various colours and textures are mounted to help in deciding which elements complement each other

And here's how I interpreted that mood board:

This card features Maja Design's Walking in the Forest collection. I started by roughing up the outer edges of 'December' (bs) paper from the Vintage Winter line and distressing/sponging the edges. The sentiment is outlined by an Amana Circle die and then a large scalloped circle. The sentiment from Verve's Snowflake Splendor was stamped on a panel of 'Last Flowers' (bs), sponged around the edges and highlighted with Bisque Liquid Pearls. The striped vertical panel is called 'Jeans' (bs) and I layered that over a Doily Lace border cut 'Jeans' panel. The square of 'Flannel Shirt' in the middle is corner rounded and outlined with Bisque Liquid Pearls. As an extra focal point, I added a bow of satin ribbon embellished with a paper rose, hemp and half of a La Rue  Flourish die. Lastly I added some button snowflakes colored with a Copic (to tone them down a bit) and wisps of Zva Creative Taupe flourishes.

Here is the Walking in the Forest overview:

Here's another card I made inspired by the above picture:

I pulled out papers from Maja Design's Vintage Winter collection. I used a specific technique for making that textured background paper. I inked up the inside of a Flowers Lattice #2 Embossing folder with Pumice Stone Distress ink. I then added my panel of December (bs) paper and ran it through my Big Kick machine. When it comes out, the embossed designs are the same shade as the paper you put in, but the negative is shaded with the ink. This method gives some wonderful depth to your design. I also added a strip of Wool Throw paper across the middle, adorned with a length of crocheted lace interwoven with navy satin ribbon. The floral accent consists of paper and fabric flowers, tulle spikes, hemp and Flutter Vine die cuts. The sides are decorated with scalloped borders using Winter Joy (bs) paper and the top and bottom have just a small strip of Wool Throw (bs).

Here are the details for entering your creation into the challenge:
The mood boards will be presented the first Tuesday every month. We will be presenting all participating creations that fulfill the requirements below January 29th. We will also draw a winner who will be winning a Maja Design collection of their own choice in 6×6 or 12×12.

After your creation is done, take a photo and send it to without any watermarks (size 600×600). Include your full address in the e-mail and what collection you would like if you win. Don’t forget to write down if you would like 6×6 or 12×12. We need your creation January 27th at the latest. Good Luck!

Thanks so much for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!
