New Verve...Merry and Bright

Welcome to our 2012 Holiday Spotlight Hops!  Hop along with the Divas as we share our first looks at a few of the new products releasing from Verve this Friday night!  Today the Divas are spotlighting a set called Merry and Bright:

I had a package of Melissa Frances' Home for the Holiday papers with me this past weekend and I took full use of it...this card, as well as yesterday's, also features that line of paper. I distressed the edges and added a strip across the middle with a bit of hanging lace. I stamped the snowflake in Antique Linen distress ink, cut it out and then added some glitter to it. It's hard to tell from the picture, but it really sparkles pretty in real life! I then attached a crystal gem to the middle. There is some stitching on the opposite corners and as a final touch, I added a Zva crystal flourish and some coordinating buttons.

New Verve...Peace on Earth

Welcome to Day 1 of our Verve release Spotlight Hops!  We'd love to have you hop along with the Divas over the next few days as we share our first looks at a few of the new products releasing from Verve this Friday night! This release is full of heartfelt, joyful sentiments and delightful seasonal images. I had a blast creating with these! This card I made for today is using the Peace on Earth set:

I was away this weekend at a Scrapbook 'getaway'...I mean how awesome is that...a big table to sprawl out all my stuff, fed every 4 to 6 hours...chocolate at every turn, what more can a girl ask for? Oh, yeah...they had massages appointments set up too! Anyway, I started out stamping the sentiment onto a banner and attaching just a peek of a doily. I then layered a length of Crushed Silky ribbon (ruffled), white lace, gingham ribbon and then some hemp tied into a bow over a cross that was stamped and cut out. I added some heart buttons in coordinating colors, and some liquid pearls around the perimeter for interest.

Zva Creative October DT Blog Hop

Zva Creative and our talented Design Team welcome you to join us for our October Blog Hop! We are happy to have you join us and hope you enjoy all that we have to share with you along the way!

The Blog Hop begins at Zva Creative's blogBe sure head on over to check it out! Leave a comment there for a chance to win an extra prize package just for visiting the blog and telling us that you stopped by! You will also find a complete list of all the participating blogs there (in case there is a glitch along the way).

As you know, Zva offers many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals.  We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was will be sharing a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project.  If you like what you see you can find a list of stores and online retailers that sell Zva HERE.

My color assignment for this month is Black/Jet. Mostly one of my go-to colors and with the richness of the holiday colors, I thought black accents would go perfectly:

Zva Creative products used:
CRB-05CA-114 (Fancy - Jet Crystal)
CRW-04CB-124 (Dots Crystal - Jet (0.3 cm & 0.5 cm)
CRW-03CA-107 (Basic Lines Crystal - Clear (0.3 cm & 0.5 cm)

If you would like to play along with our design team, just follow along the blog path.  I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way!
Hidden on FIVE of the designer's blogs is a Zva Creative prize package! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.
The Blog Hop starts today, October 29th and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, October 30th.
The 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, October 31st on Zva Creative's blogWe will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to Zva's blog on Wednesday.

All you need to do is leave a comment on this Blog Hop post... you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. However, the more times you comment along the blog hop path, the more chances you will have to win.

We also thought it would be more fun to add even more chances to win our blog hop prize!  To increase your chances of winning:
* Comment to let us know that you posted on your Facebook page about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)
* Comment to let us know that you "tweeted" about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)
* Comment to let us know that you asked your local store to carry Zva creative products.  If they already do, that's fantastic, maybe you can suggest other products that they don't carry.
*Hop over to Zva's blog and leave a comment there to tell us that you made it there!

The blog hop begins here at Zva Creative's blog. Your next stop is Lisa Gregory. Enjoy!

Thank you for joining us!
Before I go though, I want to pass along my thoughts and prayers to everyone in the hurricane's path...I certainly hope this thing fizzles out before doing any real damage. Stay safe, my friends!

CASE Study...Happy Thoughts

Morning friends! I have to say that I've hit a creative roadblock somewhere between Monday and today. Not a good feeling, but one that was put in place on purpose, though I may not understand it at this time. At CASE Study this week, we're to draw inspiration from Julia's card pictured below mine. Julia really comes up with some lovely designs and this is how I interpreted her card:

I used Stampin' Up!'s Field Flowers set, stamped in black and then Frayed Burlap. The middles were 'colored in' with Platinum Liquid Pearls. I added a pretty gingham bow with a blue gem. The edges were stitched with my sewing machine to give a finished look.

Want to see how the other CASE Study design team members were inspired?
Here's the list of the other ladies' blog:
Teneale Williams
Jeanne Jachna (October Guest Designer)

Here are the deets:
1. Create a paper crafting project (card, layout, off-the-page item), based on provided inspiration (being a featured creation, made by our Muse).
2. Post your creation on your blog or an online gallery (using a code CSC114), and link it to the CASE Study blog with the inlinkz widget. Please provide a direct link to your post, not an entire blog.
3. A new challenge is being posted every Thursday at 12.01 AM EST, and you've got until midnight on Tuesday to submit your entry.
4. You may enter as many times as you like, but you're asked to provide a newly designed project.
5. We will choose authors of the four most impressive creations, who will be awarded the Winner and Top 3 awards. In addition, there might be a person chosen randomly from the list of players, who will receive the prize provided by the sponsor - if there is one.
We will announce the winners on Wednesday.
6. Above all, have fun - and be inspired!

I'll be taking the next few days off from blogging, at least until Monday or so...I'm going away this weekend to the Simply Cropping  getaway in Pennsylvania. I'm hoping to take some classes, kibitz with some other crafters and hopefully find my mojo that I've hidden under a rock somewhere. Thanks so much to all of you who comment or simply just stop by to gaze around...I truly appreciate the time you take to visit!
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Bloom Where You Are Planted

It's been a few weeks since I've been able to participate with Mojo Monday, but today I've eeked some time out of my day to put together this feminine, neutral-palette card:

I had some photography problems this morning....the sun was shining way too brightly on my favorite window sill and I really don't like photographing in direct sunlight. So I got my light box and put it in the sun and took this picture. I used only white and kraft and added a touch of aqua with the ribbon and liquid pearls on the sentiment. I die cut the Floral Ovals, sponged the interior and added the pearls to both the kraft and white panels. The flowers were from the wedding dept at Michael's. The large background panel is embossed with a Starry Night folder and the next panel up is embossed with the Swiss Dots design. The sentiment is from Verve's latest release, this set is called Doodled Occasions.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Play Date Cafe Anniversary Celebration

Happy Saturday! I received a special invitation from Julie Ranae of the Play Date Cafe challenge to partake in an anniversary celebration...so of course I said yes! I had been on the PDC design team from September of 2010 to December of 2011 and I've seen many beautiful color stories come and go. This week's palette is a particularly elegant one, it reminds me of the lovely colors of autumn...flame, grape and mulberry:

When I use bold colors, I like to make the card somewhat CAS. I also tend to tone the colors down a bit as well, as I'm not that comfy throwing around brilliant color. :) The crushed ribbon is from the Ribbon Carousel and I added some paper/silk flowers to it. Even though the background paper was embossed, I felt that it needed a bit of oomph, hence the Zva crystal flourish. I also added a Pinking Heart border to the bottom edge for a bit of interest. Lastly, I added the 'Love You' sentiment from Paper Sweeties' newest release, this set is called You Are Amazing.

From Oct 18-22, you can enjoy inspiration from other returning design team members as well as their current team,
prizes from a variety of sponsors and additional giveaways for becoming a follower of the challenge and for displaying their brand new badges!

I hope you will join me in congratulating The Play Date Cafe by playing along and sharing your support by saying hello
when you pay a visit.  It's going to be an exciting celebration!

Thanks for joining me today and enjoy your weekend!

Viva La Verve...With Love

It's F·R·I·D·A·Y! Although it's my Wednesday work day, I'm glad that I don't have to get the kids up for school on the weekends...takes just a little responsibility off my plate for a few days. I do have a card to share with you today, it's Tosha's turn to host Viva La Verve this week and this is what I've done with her lovely design:

I had initially thought the flower was too big...and it may be...but it's grown on me (no pun intended :). Pretty straightforward, I just had to add a bit of bling with the Zva Creative flourish and the Kaisercraft Sparklets. I've combined Verve sentiments, the 'Thinking of You' is from the Borderline set and the 'With Love' is from...wait for it....the With Love set. :)

Here's the story on the Viva La Verve challenge:

Every Friday, a Diva will post a sketch for your enjoyment. Your cards, using the sketches, must be uploaded to Splitcoast Stamper'sViva La Verve forum by the last Thursday of the month. The winner will be announced on the next day and will win a $100 gift certificate to VERVE! How awesome is that?! Just a reminder, Verve stamps are NOT required but we love to see you use them. Feel free to flip, rotate, resize, or otherwise alter the sketch as long as we can tell you USED the sketch! This month's keyword with be VLVSOct2012 for the whole month of October.

CASE Study...Everything Will Be Okay

I'm certainly feelin' the pinks these last couple of weeks and today's CASE Study card perpetuates my love affair with this perfectly feminine, perfectly delicate color. I've gone CAS all the way on this one, I love the striking color against the stark whiteness. I've pictured Julia's inspiration card below mine:

I kept the pink/orange theme, the CAS design and the 'be okay' sentiment. I received a divine package in the mail from the Ribbon Carousel....spools upon spools of lovely crushed silk ribbon...one of my very faves. This pink ribbon was included and I scrunched it up in the middle and attached a Prima velvet flower to the middle. I punched out a small 'Flowers & Flourishes' border design along the bottom and added two orange gems. The stamp is from Verve's latest release, this set is called Doodled Occasions.

Harvest Blessings

Hi all...checking in briefly today with a CAS card that I made based on this week's Splitcoast CAS challenge...a harvest theme. I used some delectable Silky Crushed ribbon from the Ribbon Carousel and tied it off into a voluptuous bow:

I laid a length of Silky Crushed Ribbon, then a layer of Crochet ribbon to which I laced in some raffia. I tied that off into a bow on top of the silk bow. Lastly, I added a Kaisercraft Sparklet and stamped the sentiment, from Verve's Bountiful Harvest set, above the ribbon.

I'll be back tomorrow with a CASE Study card, continuing my CAS streak....

Have a great day and thanks for visiting!

Paper Sweeties Post Release Inspiration

I've got more Paper Sweeties inspiration to share with you today, 11 different sets were released yesterday...super cute Fall-themed sentiments and images all coordinating so that the possibilities for creativity are endless! Today I've got both a sentiment and an illustrated card to show you:

This first card is based on Jen del Muro's Sketch For You To Try for October. I'm continuing on my neutral kick...I've seen a pattern in myself...until I clean up my desk in it's entirety (which is rarely), I'll continue to use the same colors/products on a few projects in a row. Hence, my 'Harvest Gathering' neutral card. The sentiment is from the new released You Are Amazing set. I added some Fall-colored leaves and ginger flavored flowers to each side of the sentiment panel for a splash of color.

Here's Jen's sketch:

My next card uses the Stand Add-ons 2 (produce), Stand Add-ons 3 (scarecrow) and the Sweeties Wagon sets. I colored in the image with Copics, die cut the panel with a Spellbinder's Lattice Rectangle and snaked a length of Brown Sugar Divine Twine through the frame. I then tied that off at the bottom and added some ribbon and flowers.

The other Paper Sweeties' Design Team members are all showing some more PS goodness...make a stop to their blogs for some more inspiration:

Paper Sweeties Release Day...A Second Spring

Ok, so how fast did the middle of October sneak up on us? Wow! Well, no matter...I have a bit of good news to share, today marks Paper Sweeties October release celebration! Debbie has come up with some darling Fall, Halloween and Thanksgiving stamps for us...today I'm showcasing a sentiment based card, using the 'Sweeties Wagon' set:

Mind you, I tend to focus my cards mainly around sentiments and a lot of these stamp sets also include the cutest images as well. Tomorrow I'll be posting a card using some of those sweet images. But for today, this card originally started off as CAS...but no, it did not finish up that way. This was one of those instances where I just kept adding and adding until I was content. :) The middle panel consists of a Victorian Lace border punch...both the cut out and the negative (the negative is poking out of the bottom with the 4 pearls adorning it). The actual die cut is right under the Pennant Trim cut outs (the ones with the 3 pearls). I layered a doily on top of the background panel impressed with a Seeing Spots embossing folder and then laid the striped ribbon down. The sentiment panel was placed on top of that and then I tucked the Maple leaves underneath but not before I decorated them with Liquid Pearls, flowers and some Natural jute/twine.

New Paper Sweeties...Thanksgiving Blessings

Good Sunday morning! Over the next three days, the Paper Sweeties' Design team are going to post a bevvy of cards using new release stamps available tomorrow in the Paper Sweeties' store. My card today is using two Thanksgiving geared sets with lots of color that my brain is not very used to, lol. Take a lookie:

My card features the new 'Happy Thanksgiving' and 'Gobble Gobble' sets. I used some papers from DCWV's  Harvest Gathering line. The sentiment panel was made using an Alteration's Rosette die and then on top of that I layered a Big Scalloped Circle. I sponged the inner perimeter and added a bit of Liquid Pearls. The tab at the top is a punch and to that cut I stamped the 'Give Thanks' sentiment.

Make sure you take a peek at what the other Paper Sweeties' DT members are making with these beautiful stamps as well:

Viva La Verve...An Autumn Mosaic

It's Friday! Two things come to mind on this fine day, 1) I'ts the end of the work week...yay! and 2) It's time for a new Viva La Verve sketch, hosted by yours truly! I'm not too good at putting sketches together...my knowledge base of Microsoft Word is limited, but I was able to eek out a sketch that Julee made look much prettier than the original! Here's my take on my sketch, with the design pictured underneath:

This is a very unusual card for me, no pearls, flowers, ribbons or any semblance of 'girly'. After cutting out the Labels Five, I dotted the perimeter with liquid pearls. The sentiment panel is stamped with a verse from Verve's Autumn Splendor set, sponged and liquid pearled around the edge. I raised that up over the center panel which is made up of a bunch of scraps I had from cutting the other panels. :)

Here's the 411 on the Viva La Verve challenge:

Every Friday, a Diva will post a sketch for your enjoyment. Your cards, using the sketches, must be uploaded to Splitcoast Stamper's Viva La Verve forum by the last Thursday of the month. The winner will be announced on the next day and will win a $100 gift certificate to VERVE! How awesome is that?! Just a reminder, Verve stamps are NOT required but we love to see you use them. CASE Study...So Sweet of You

Hello and welcome to this week's new inspiration at CASE Study with our Muse Julia Stainton! I'm loving Julia's style...clever designs, beautiful colors and lovely feminine accents! This week's card is a unique design...one that I have not seen the likes of before and this is how I interpreted it:

I love the way the tape measure ribbons hang and flow, I wanted to have a similar design, however in my own unique "Ewen-Style". Mostly predictable with delicate pink, lots of flowers and a lace repeating border. :) The lace layers are alternating Martha Stewart Doily Lace Edge punches and Stampin' Up!'s Scalloped border punch. The sentiment is from Paper Sweeties' So Sweet of You set and I stamped that onto a Petite Scalloped Rectangle Nestie that was lightly sponged and dotted with Liquid Pearls around the perimeter. There is a combo of paper and fabric flowers, along with a crystal stamen that I found at the bottom of my flower drawer.
I've also come across the Link Up for the Pink website to raise awareness of breast cancer. Hope you'll make a card with pink and link it up to the site to show your support!

2. Post your creation on your blog or an online gallery (using a code CSC112), and link it to the CASE Study blog with the inlinkz widget.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!
