Autumn Splendor

It's late, I'm still up, but should be ZZing away... However, whilst the inspiration has a hold a me...I've got to jump on it. I made a card for this week's Featured Stamper challenge at Splitcoast and the current lady of the hour is Vicky aka vdm. I CASEd this card here, borrowing the design, the embossing and the pearlized wreath:

I changed up the theme from Christmas to Fall, changed the colors and used different embossing folders. The  wreath was made with some Fall-like paper flowers glued around a circle. I added some pearls, flowers and tulle. The banner sentiment is from Verve's Autumn Splendor set.

That's all from me tonight...have a wonderful evening!

Viva La Verve...Every Season

Happy Friday! I'm off from work this weekend and have a girl's date with my bestie Irene tonight so I'm really looking forward to my work day being over. To celebrate, I got my caboose in gear and made a Viva La Verve card for today, this one is based on a design by our Diva Amber:

Today's sketch kicks off a new month of challenges and a brand new chance to win some Verve of your very own! Check below for the details. For this card, I pulled out Verve's Every Season Plain Jane, though, in actuality, I pulled this focal panel from my bag of cast-offs...stuff that didn't work on other cards. This sentiment seemed to work perfectly for this design, although, I did tweak the panels of Amber's sketch for my own diabolical needs. :)  The outside perimeter is distressed and sewn with black thread. The focal panel consists of, from outside in, a large petite scalloped circle, a Quinn flourish die, a small petite circle, a scalloped oval and an oval. Whew! I tied a big chunky silk bow, attached a duo of Zva flowers and a couple of tulle accents and...voila!

Here's Amber's sketch:

Here's the story on the Viva La Verve challenge:

Every Friday, a Diva will post a sketch for your enjoyment. Your cards, using the sketches, must be uploaded to Splitcoast Stamper'sViva La Verve forum by the last Thursday of the month. The winner will be announced on the next day and will win a $100 gift certificate to VERVE! How awesome is that?! Just a reminder, Verve stamps are NOT required but we love to see you use them. Feel free to flip, rotate, resize, or otherwise alter the sketch as long as we can tell you USED the sketch! This month's keyword with be VLVSOct2012 for the whole month of October.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

CASE Study...Believe in Your Dreams

Hello and welcome to our fourth and final week at CASE Study with muse Torico! I've been enjoying her clean and cute designs and interpreting them in a way so that translates into my own signature style. I had somewhat of a hard time with this card in particular, sometimes I'm okay with less is more, but this one just felt like it was missing some allure:

I was drawn to the butterflies, the neutral palette and the 'dream theme'. I CASEd all these aspects while changing up the design, stamps and adding an embossed design. I achieved that background look by inking up the inside of the embossing folder with Creamy Caramel ink and then running it through my Big Kick. The butterflies are coated with a layer of copper colored glitter and folded up a bit for some dimension.

Ribbon Carousel and Helmar Blog Hop

Today the Ribbon Carousel Crewmates are teaming up with the designers from Helmar to bring you a blog hop jam packed with crafty goodness! I've designed this Autumn-inspired card using this week's Mojo Monday sketch and lots of stickables from Helmar to make that floral embellishment stay snug:

I started by combining two different paper lines, Sassafras' Sunshine Broadcast and Papertrey Ink's Autumn Abundance. I used a strip of 5/8" Black/White Grosgrain Two Tone ribbon off to the left, going into the flowers. I also tied a big bow of Ivory Jute/Twine using this method here, and then attaching it to the card base. I then layered a bunch of different flowers...some from Kaisercraft, some from Zva Creative and some picked off a bunch. Helmar's Premium Craft glue is the perfect adhesive to make these relatively heavy flowers stick AND stay put. I also added a leaf from a box of candy and pearlized stamens that I purchased at Michael's from the cake decorating dept. The sentiment panel is a Scalloped Square, two regular squares and a Maple Leaf Nestability that I sponged with Pumpkin Pie (ink pad, that is), Walnut Stain and Riding Hood Red ink. I stamped the sentiment from Verve's Bountiful Harvest set in the middle and attached it to the square.

The sketch I used:

Hop along with us today and leave some blog love for our Ribbon Carousel Crewmates and the Helmar designers to be eligible to win one of the 2 prizes up for grabs!

The Helmar prize is a complete pack of Zapdots (12 packs) including clear, black and white in circles and squares in both, the large and small sizes!
The prize being offered from the Ribbon Carousel is a $20 Gift Certificate to the store!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Ribbon Carousel...Buttons and Twine

Good Tuesday morning! There's a brand new challenge taking place at the Ribbon Carousel blog, this week our theme is buttons and twine! Since the weather has had a bit of a chill in it, I decided to continue on with my Fall-themed cards, this one appropriately uses the Chillingsworth Manor line of papers from Echo Park:

This card embodies many Ribbon Carousel goodies...namely the Pearl Pen that makes that great dotted border around the sentiment, some Mango & Black seam binding, crochet ribbon and Natural Jute/Twine. The design behind the sentiment is a Quinn Flourish die by Memory Box. The leaves are one of Verve's newest releases, Dreamy Leaves die, accompanied by a Dream Big leaf stamp and the sentiment is also from Verve...this particular set is called Boo to You. I was inspired to do the ribbon treatment on the bottom there by Amy's card...I just loved the way she ruffled the ribbon, then added the crochet on top and then finished it off with yet another layer of ribbon.

Your creation can be anything from cards, quilts, sewn items, paper crafts, paintings! *** Be sure to have ribbon, bakers twine, jute twine, lace, thread (basically anything that comes on a spool). ***

We'd love for you to join us this week! Here are the details:
  • Make your NEW creation following the ribbon carousel challenge of the week. Any submissions made prior to the challenge date will be deleted. Be sure to include some type of ribbon, twine, hemp, lace....basically, anything that comes on a spool.
  • Load your creation up onto your blog or a public viewing forum like Splitcoast Stampers, (use the keyword RCC72) with a direct link back to THIS post. Including the challenge graphic isn't a requirement, but sure is appreciated! (A participant of our very first challenge didn't link back or mention our challenge and couldn't be named Top Spool, so don't let that happen to you!)
  • Link up your creation using the Inlinkz button at the bottom of this post. Your image may take a little while to pop up, but don't worry, it will appear shortly.
  • Come back the Friday after the challenge ends to see if YOU are a Top Spool!

Thanks for visiting...I'll be back tomorrow for a special blog hop with the Ribbon Carousel and a company that sticks it to ya! :) (In a good way!)

Zva Creative and our talented Design Team welcome you to join us for our September Blog Hop! We are happy to have you join us and hope you enjoy all that we have to share with you along the way!

The Blog Hop begins at Zva Creative's blogBe sure head on over to check it out! Leave a comment there for a chance to win an extra prize package just for visiting the blog and telling us that you stopped by! You will also find a complete list of all the participating blogs there (in case there is a glitch along the way).

As you know, Zva Creative offers many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals.  We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was will be sharing a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project.  If you like what you see you can find a list of stores and online retailers that sell Zva HERE.

My color theme for this month is Blue (Ice Blue and/or Soft Blue Pearl). I started off with a neutral base and then added some blue accents, in the form of some Zva gorgeousness, so that they would stand out. I also added just a sprinkling of crystal glitter to the flower detail to give it just a slight sparkle. The border was made without a corner punch, I just aligned the Dotted Scallop strips so that they would meet (somewhat) seamlessly at the corners.

Zva Creative products used on this card:

CR-05CA-132 (Flickering-Soft Blue Crystal)
CRW-04CB-135 (Dots Crystal - Soft Blue (0.3 cm & 0.5 cm
FLBK-03CB-141 (sweet rose (72 stems) 1-3/8" or 35mm - Soft Blue)
FLBK-03CB-122 (mini rose (144 stems) -7/8" or 23mm -White)

FLBK-03CB-101 (mini rose (144 stems) -1/2" or 12mm - White)
FL-04CA-111 (36pc leaves #I - 1.5")

To play along with our design team, just follow along the blog path.  I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on.  Hidden on FIVE of the designer's blogs is a Zva Creative prize package! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.
The Blog Hop starts today, September 24th and runs through 11:59pm US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, September 25th.
The 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, September 26th on Zva Creative's blogWe will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to Zva's blog on Wednesday.

All you need to do is leave a comment on this Blog Hop post... you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. However, the more times you comment along the blog hop path, the more chances you will have to win.

We also thought it would be more fun to add even more chances to win our blog hop prize!  To increase your chances of winning:
* Comment to let us know that you posted on your Facebook page about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)
* Comment to let us know that you "tweeted" about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)

CASE Study...Halloween Greetings

Hi and welcome to our 3rd week at CASE Study with Muse Torico! Our inspiration card this week sure is a super cute one, using the most adorable images, papers and stitch work. I decided to go in a more vintage, ephemera type direction and I remembered that I purchased these darling vintage images from an Etsy shop last year. Here's my card based on the one pictured below it:

I kept the design 'relatively' the same, instead of a stamped image I used a digital one, I added a floral cluster where the sentiment is and also machine stitched the perimeter. I changed up the colors, theme and I added some sweet vintage ribbon, paper flowers, a Zva flourish and some pearl stick pins. The sentiment is from Verve's Boo to You set and I dropped the stamp as I was about to stamp with it, so the sentiment got smudged. Oh, well. :)

Diva Dare...Fanspiration

Hi Verve fans and friends!  I'm here continuing with this month's exciting Diva Dare theme!  I have to say that as I was perusing our fan gallery and seeing all the fabulous entries for our recent card carnival I was very inspired as well!  I can certainly see how this inspiration led to Julee's decision to make this month's Diva Dare theme...Fanspiration!   This month, we "dare" you to show us your new creations inspired by projects made by Verve fans!  You can pick any little Verve project to inspire you, as long as it is not by one of our design team members (or yourself!) {grin}.  To get your wheels a turnin', the Divas will be posting their Fanspiration creations using our newly released products on the Verve blog daily for a total of 2 weeks!
I have long since admired one of our Verve fans' work (among others) and what really draws me to Olena's creations is her incredible use of color. I tend to make things more on the neutral/pastel side, but wow! When you see how color can be used, particularly on this card....my goodness, it really inspired me to make this card here:

I started off by heat embossing with clear powder, the flowers from the newly released Lean on Me set. After embossing, I sponged color, starting from the middle with Sunflower yellow ink, then working towards the outside using Really Rust and the outside perimeter is Walnut Stain distress ink. I cut out each flower with the coordinating Pointed Flowers die. I cut out 3 large and 4 small designs, layered them, curled up the edges and added a rhinestone to the middle. The leaves are a combination of the previously released Bloom and  Grow, cut out with the Elegant Leaves die and also leaves from the Dream Big set, cut out with the new Dreamy Leaves die.  The sentiment is from the With Love set, stamped on the Scroll Plain Jane  and cut out with the coordinating Scroll die. The last colorful details added were some orange organdy ribbon, orange rhinestone flourishes, a doily and a raffia adorned wooden button. The perimeter was paper pierced as well.
Read on to see how you can win some shiny new Verve!  There are two ways to win...

  1. Win a $50 Verve gift certificate! Play along with our Fanspiration Diva Dare and link up your creation to the linky widget entry form. Winner will be chosen by random draw.  To be eligible, your entry must:
    • Be a new creation - posted September 7 or later
    • Be inspired by a non-design team created Verve card or project
    • Include a link to the inspiration piece you used, as well as a brief explanation of what inspired you
    • Use at least one Verve product
    • Be added to the linky widget before 5pm Mountain on Sunday, September 23.
  2. Win a Verve set of your choosing! Leave a little shout-out for the Divas in the comments section as we post our answers to the Fanspiration dare each weekday through September 20.  A random comment winner will be chosen from all the comments over the course of the Dare.
- Go forth and get inky! We DARE you! -

Sweet Friend

Happy Monday! I had a chance to make a Mojo Monday card today and I've combined it with the Shabby Tea Room's inspiration photo as well, something I haven't been able to do in a while. And since I am participating in the Shabby Tea Room's challenge, I thought it would be fitting to use some new Paper Sweeties stamps, seeing that Debbie (creator of the Shabby Tea Room) is also the creative mind behind these darling stamps. Here's my sample using the Little Wishes set with the sketch and photo posted below:

I broke out some My Mind's Eye shabby papers, fulfilled the sketch requirements, then just kept building on the floral cluster. It consists of some Zva Creative flowers and leaves, raffia, satin ribbon, a piece of a crepe paper sticker, tulle accents, a snippet of lace and part of a doily. I don't throw away a lot, so parts/pieces of doilies and lace are always around for me to tuck into something.

Here's the sketch for this week:

And in addition to this photo for inspiration, we needed to make our card pink and green and add flowers:

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed your visit! I'll be back tomorrow with a special treat for the Zva Creative fans in the house!

Paper Sweeties Post Release Inspiration

Good Sunday morning! Just checkin' in to bring you a little more Paper Sweeties' lovin' in the form of some cute Halloween stamps! Our September release was debuted yesterday, this card uses two sets....Spooky Wishes and Giddyup!:

The card is really very simple in design, I used a white paint pen to make the faux stitching around the ghost image and I also used a Exacto knife to cut around the hand so that it looked like it was carrying the treat basket. The two little ghosts and the pumpkin are buttons from my stash.
Make sure you take a peek at what the other Paper Sweeties' DT members are making with these beautiful stamps as well:

Thanks for visiting and have a great day!

Party Invitation

Good Saturday morning! I've got two special treats combined into one today. First off, today is release day at Paper Sweeties! Debbie has a boatload of new stamps to show off and I'm here today to give you just a taste of inspiration using these new stamps. And speaking of inspiration, Stef (SmilynStef) from Splitcoast Stampers asked me to make a sample today for their weekly Inspiration Challenge. The site that we we're to chose from is Wild Thing Dresses. I chose this cute little apron here as my inspiration for this party invitation:

I've had these papers for a while and most of the colors in the pack are shades of purple/cool blues which are not normally my go to colors. However, while sifting through the pack, my eye spotted this wonderful shade of yellow and I just happened to have some lovely Zva Creative flowers to coordinate. Debbie has just released this cute stamp set pertaining to parties so I figured I would make this cute party invitation. I die cut a Rectangle Nestability, sponged the perimeter while it was still in the die and then set about stamping. As a last minute decision, I added the liquid pearls. I thought that they allowed for a more definitive edge. I arranged the flowers, consisting of various size and colored Zva flowers and also some leaves. I then added the Zva flourishe and the sentiment tag to match, also sponged and liquid dotted.
Make sure to check out the Paper Sweeties shop to see all the cute sets that Debbie has designed, the possibilities for mixing and matching sets are endless!

Have a great day and thanks for visiting~

Hello blog friends! Today I've got a sneak peek of some new Paper Sweeties stamps being released tomorrow. The September stamps are full of sweet sentiments, new accessories for our dear Paper Sweeties dolls and fun banners. My card today is using the 'So Sweet of You' set:

I started off making a tag, sponging the edges lightly and the sewing the perimeter. I added a bolder dash (isn't that a game? :) of color with the pink seam binding. I laid that on top of a swatch of burlap and then added the lace, flowers and pearls. The perimeters of both card stock panels are sewn as well.
Make sure you take a peek at what the other Paper Sweeties' DT members are making with these beautiful stamps as well:
