Zva Creative April DT Blog Hop

Zva Creative and our talented Design Team welcome you to join us for our April Blog Hop! We are happy to have you join us and hope you enjoy all that we have to share with you along the way!

The Blog Hop begins at Zva Creative's NEW blog! Be sure head on over to check it out! Leave a comment there for a chance to win an extra prize package just for visiting the blog and telling us that you stopped by! You will also find a complete list of all the participating blogs there (in case there is a glitch along the way).

As you know, Zva offers many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals.  We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was asked to share a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project.  If you like what you see you can find a list of stores and online retailers that sell Zva HERE.

For this month's project, I was asked to incorporate peach/white pearl colors into my card. Zva's pearl flourishes and wide variety of flowers allow me to make cute and funky cards or sweet, feminine shabby ones.  For this card, I decided to go with a mix between the two:

Zva Creative products used:

PE-02CB-141 (Symmetrical Flourish - White)
PE-02CB-107 (Lines(Pearl)- white (0.3 cm & 0.5 cm)
FLBK-03CB-128 (mini rose (144 stems) -7/8" or 23 mm -Peach)
FLBK-03CB-101(mini rose (144 stems) -1/2" or 12mm - White)

If you would like to play along with our design team, just follow along the blog path.  I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way!
Hidden on FIVE of the designer's blogs is a Zva Creative prize package! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.
The Blog Hop starts today, April 30th and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, May 1st.
The 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, May 2nd on each of the five winning blogs. The full list will be found on Zva's blog as well. We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday... plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there.

All you need to do is leave a comment on this Blog Hop post... you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. However, the more times you comment along the blog hop path, the more chances you will have to win.

We also thought it would be more fun to add even more chances to win our blog hop prize!  To increase your chances of winning:
* Comment to let us know that you posted on your Facebook page about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)
* Comment to let us know that you "tweeted" about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)
* Comment to let us know that you asked your local store to carry Zva creative products.  If they already do, that's fantastic, maybe you can suggest other products that they don't carry.
*Hop over to Zva's blog and leave a comment there to tell us that you made it there!

The blog hop begins here at Zva Creative's blog. Your next stop is the super talented Lisa Gregory. Enjoy!

Thank you for joining us!

P.S. Mark your calendar to join us again on May 28th for our next Zva blog hop!

Mojo Monday...Just A Note

On this dreary last day in April, I've finally gotten a chance to sit down and compose a Mojo card for this week. However, dreary New Jersey weather does not bode well for photography, but here's my Mojo Monday card anyway, with inspiration provided by the Shabby Tea Room:

The sketch I followed:

The inspiration colors (though my pinks are more salmon-y and I have just a hint of green) and we were also to include polka dots, hearts and flowers:

I used some new Verve stamping goodness (Joyful Blooms) and also new dies (Ribbon Banner die) as well as some former Verve (Charming Oval dies). I added a swath of Zva pearls and some pretty pink flowers. I was able to get my hands on some sweet picks from Michael's wedding dept; the pick includes those sweet little iridescent flowers along with leaves and stamens, which really enhance a big flower. Adds a little "little" to the big. Makes for a good balance.
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by to visit!

Footprints in the Sand

Good Sunday morning! I've got a card to show you today, one that I made for Splitcoast's Featured Stamper challenge. The showcased stamper this week is abbysmom2198 and I've chosen this card of her's to CASE. I kept the color scheme and ribbon placement the same, however, I changed the focal panel and added a burlap/flower/pin accent. Here is my version of Abby's delightful card:

I was so lucky to have Della of I Brake for Stamps contact me about designing with her stamps and she generously let me pick out a few to test ride. And I have to tell you that I'm buyin'! This stamp is called Footprints in the Sand. I just love the mix of fonts and the crisp stamp lines. I'll definitely be using this one again! (And if you like this stamp and want to shop in her store, you'll get a 10% discount by using this coupon code: SAVE10ANDREA)

I was also lucky enough to be contacted by Linda from Creative Harmony and she was so kind as to send me some of her homemade stick pins....can you believe this pin?! It's absolutely gorgeous! She asked that in exchange for this act of kindness that I pay it forward. And I certainly will!

There's a lot going on with this card, I did some mixing and matching of Spellbinders to come up with a custom frame around the sentiment. The outside black flourishes are from the Fleur De Lis Motif's collection. I die cut 4 of the linear designs and attached them to the back of a Scalloped Square design. I then layered a Labels 3 (on dimensionals) on top of that. I sponged the inside with Antique Linen Distress ink and added some Platinum Liquid Pearls. The floral focal accent consists of Graphite Vintage Seam Binding and a Prima Tattered Treasures flower, both from the Ribbon Carousel store. Then I tucked an Elegant Scrollwork diecut underneath that. Berneath the main focal panel is a piece of Natural Burlap, cut up and frayed a bit and that is also from the Ribbon Carousel.  (Corinna has a sale going on right now until the end of April with a coupon for 15% off with the potential for free shipping.) A little paper piercing and sewn edges finish off the card.
Thanks for stopping by today, I surely appreciate the visit!

Congrats to the Graduate

Hey Verve fans, welcome back! Yesterday I posted my Diva Dare card and today I'm here to show you a new round of sketches for May with this week's Viva La Verve sketch...and how I interpreted it. I actually pretty much stuck to Amber's sketch, however I fancied up the sentiment/focal panel a bit. It took some experimenting, but in the end I'm happy with the final layering:

I used Verve's newly released set Purely Sentimental for the sentiment. My husband's niece is graduating from college next week, so I thought I'd find a box :) so that I could mail this card to her. Unfortunately she's in Virginia and we both have to work so we won't be able to attend the ceremony. Hopefully this card will suffice.  The focal panel is stacked as follows: Fancy Tags Three Nestability, Verve's Curvy Bookplate die, Oval Nestability and finally a matted Charming Oval set by Verve. I distressed all of the edges, added a little sponging and some ribbon/flower/jute goodness.

Have you played along with our sketches before? There's a chance at winning a $100 gift certificate to the Verve store if you play along with all of our sketches for the month. Read on...

Here are the deets on the Viva La Verve sketches:Every Friday, a Diva will post a sketch for your enjoyment. Your cards, using the sketches, must be uploaded to Splitcoast Stamper's Viva La Verve forum by the last Thursday of the month. April 2012 Diva Dare

Hello and good morning! The Verve Divas have this contest going on over at the Verve blog called the Diva Dare. We had done it last year, but it's been a while since the last one...so I figured I'd give you the 411 on the details in this post if you were inclined to play along. (New, FREE Verve would definitely entice me!) I'm here to share with you my take on this month's Diva Dare...

This month we dare you to make a card, project, layout, or whatever fits your stamping style using this month's theme - All Aboard!   It has been Grand Central Station around the Verve nest lately, Julee and Mark have welcomed two beautiful baby boys into their family and have had their hands full!  So on that note, we are challenging you to use chipboard, corrugated cardboard, or kraft on your creation or project!  We can't wait to see how you answer the dare!  Stay tuned to learn how you could win some shiny new Verve!!

I used sweet Diva Amber's trick to mat my Ribbon Banner die. If you didn't catch that one, check it out here...what a super helpful hint! I stamped the sentiment from Purely Sentimental on a piece of glittered chipboard and attached that to the Ribbon Banner die. (I extended the banner die just a tad to make it look like it's coming down from the top...the seam is being hidden by the chipboard panel.) I then stamped the Fringe Flower stamp twice, once in green and once in blue. I fussy cut out each design and layered them with a pop dot. I added a bit of Star Dust Stickles to each petal, glued on a pearl brad and attached it to the sentiment panel. Lastly, I made the flower cluster, attaching to some beautiful blue seam binding.

Want to know how you can win some fabulous new VERVE GOODIES?

  1. Play along with us and link up your new All Aboard creation (posted April 20 or later) to the linky widget on THIS POST before 6:00PM MST on Thursday May 3.  One lucky stamper will win a $30.00 gift certificate to the Verve Store. Verve Stamps are not required, but if you've got 'em we would  LOVE to see ‘em!
  2. For another chance to win, be sure to give the Divas a little shout-out in the comments section as we share our All Aboard creations. One lucky commenter will win the Verve stamp set of his or her choosing!  Winners will be announced on Friday, May 4th on the Verve blog.
Now it's YOUR turn! We DARE you to show us your creations!

Ribbon Carousel...There She Goes!

Hi and welcome to this week's Ribbon Carousel challenge! This challenge happens to be the last one of RCC's first year in business, so Corinna has got a lot to celebrate! Have you seen the news about our Birthday celebration?!  Make sure you come back next Tuesday for the party!!
But for now, we've got a fun challenge, well, an easy one...Anything goes!

Jessica from There She Goes Clear Stamps sent us some fabulous stamps to work with; I picked out a sentiment from the set Everyday Greetings and I can tell you that I'll be using every stamp in this collection! I started my card off with a page from Pink Paislee's London Market Collection. I used a length of 1/2" Ecru Crochet trim...sorry, that one's sold out :( and also a strip of 5/8" Pink Pleated Satin Trimming Ribbon. On top of that I added a piece of 1.5" Parrot Green Silky Crushed Ribbon, folded in half twice. I then made a bow with that same silky ribbon and attached it to the heart. I also added some Zva flowers, a crochet flower and a Pearls Petal Pins by Prima. There's also a little Zva flourish goodness going on, too...

We are excited to have our friends at There She Goes as this week’s challenge sponsor!  It is no secret that Jessica Knutsen and Corinna have become fabulous friends during their crafting journeys. “I love this girl, her designers and stamps are amazing and the DT is incredible!” is how Corinna describes Jessica and her team.  Soooo, we thought it only fitting that Jessica and her team help us celebrate the last challenge of our first year!

Jessica is giving this week’s lucky random winner a gift certificate of $25 to spend at the There She Goes store!
Your creation can be anything from cards, quilts, sewn items, paper crafts, paintings! *** Be sure to have ribbon, bakers twine, jute twine, lace, thread (basically anything that comes on a spool). ***
We'd love for you to join us this week! Here are the details:

  • Make your NEW creation following the ribbon carousel challenge of the week. Any submissions made prior to the challenge date will be deleted. Be sure to include some type of ribbon, twine, hemp, lace....basically, anything that comes on a spool.
  • Load your creation up onto your blog or a public viewing forum like Splitcoast Stampers, (use the keyword RCC50) with a direct link back to THIS post. Including the challenge graphic isn't a requirement, but sure is appreciated! (A participant of our very first challenge didn't link back or mention our challenge and couldn't be named Top Spool, so don't let that happen to you!)
  • Link up your creation using the Inlinkz button at the bottom of this post. Your image may take a little while to pop up, but don't worry, it will appear shortly.
  • Come back the Friday after the challenge ends to see if YOU are a Top Spool!

Mojo Monday...Thanks a Bunch

Good Monday morning!  I used a technique that I've seen on Splitcoast Stampers in order to make my Mojo Monday design work today...running a panel of paper through an embossing folder and then cutting it up into squares. I love the effect and I think that background looks great against my bunch of flowers:

Basically what I did was to cut a 3 3/4" X 5" square of designer paper, run it through my Big Shot in a Finial Press embossing folder and then cut it into (12) 1 1/4" squares. After I lightly glued them to the kraft panel, I sewed the edges and lightly ran a dauber inked with Walnut Stain distress ink, just to bring up the design a bit. I then added a strip of lace, some Ivory jute tied into a bow, a Heartfelt Creations Bella Rose die and then the bunch of flowers, including a crystal stamen. I had some questions about where I purchased the stamens, if you go into the wedding section of A.C. Moore, they have them in the bins where they keep the small picks of flowers. I also get some very pretty vintage looking flowers in those bins as well. (I've learned that not everything is in the 'Scrapbooking' section.) The sentiment is from Verve's new release and this set is called Joyful Blooms.

The Shabby Tea Rooms has us use these colors as inspiration and also to use ribbon or lace.

Thanks for coming by to visit...I always appreciate it!
Have a great day~

Viva La Verve...Celebrate Today

Hi and welcome to this week's Viva La Verve sketch! Shannan has given us a run for our money this week, not only is the sketch CAS, but the design is not something I've seen recently. I wanted a way to incorporate those arrow-like panels without making them arrow-like panels, kwim? So this is what I've come up with:

To make those delineations in the arrow panel, I cut 4 small slits, two on the top and two on the bottom. I snaked a piece of Siam Pink Vintage Seam binding through the first hole on the bottom and wound the ribbon around the brad. Then I came up to the top hole and fed the ribbon through to the back. I then repeated the process for the second brad. I then covered the slit marks with the rows of pearls. Something just a wee bit different, yes? The pearls are courtesy of Zva Creative.(Can you tell that I am in love with them?) The sentiment is from Verve's latest release and this set is called Joyful Blooms.
Here's Shannan's sketch:

Here are the deets on the Viva La Verve sketches:

Every Friday, a Diva will post a sketch for your enjoyment. Your cards, using the sketches, must be uploaded to Splitcoast Stamper's Viva La Verve forum by the last Thursday of the month. More Tag Goodness...

Another tag here to show you, this one loaded with more Zva Creative goodness and shabby accents. Veering from my latest obsession with pink, this one is set in aqua and brown tones:

I used this sweet sentiment from Skipping Stones Design's set, Always Here.

The flowers and pearls are courtesy of Zva Creative:

I had been asked a few questions about the flower that I made on the tag I posted yesterday. I basically used this technique here, but with a much thicker band of fabric and I didn't layer the design around more than once in the circle. I then attached a brad through the center and added Platinum Stickles to the outside perimeter. Really...you can't mess it up. If it looks shabby, well....mission accomplished :)
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Home Made Flower Tag

A few days ago (more like a week) I was experimenting with some home made fabric flowers. While I was down in Florida, I had stopped into a Jo-Ann's (not coincidentally, mind you, unbeknownst to my sweet husband) and I purchased some beautiful, silky fabrics. I messily cut up some strips and set about sewing a shabby flower. Here's the result of this haphazard sewing project:

I coated the edges with some Platinum Stickles and found a decorative brad for the middle:

Some Zva Creative pearl goodness:

I added some lovely Wired Pink Netting from the Ribbon Carousel:

A dash of cute buttons and some glittered chipboard flourishes:

I have another tag that I'll post tomorrow along these same lines...
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Heartfelt Creations...One Layer Wonders

Hi and welcome to Wednesday's Heartfelt Creation's post! This week I decided to experiment with a one layer card...which when I set out to do this, thought it nearly impossible but thankfully I proved myself wrong. I simply used some chalks on a watermarked image and came up with this:

Card Instructions:

Cut Rustic White card stock down to 8 1/2" X 5 1/2, score paper at 5 1/2" mark and fold. Stamp Bold Bella Rose image around perimeter of card and lightly dab chalks with a dauber. Stamp sentiment and two floral designs on Oval Nestability and adhere that to a Beaded Oval Nestability cut out with Cameo Coral card stock. Adhere to middle of card. Add White Opal Liquid Pearls to the perimeter of the Beaded Oval cut out.

So being emboldened by this one-layer accomplishment, I gave it another try, this time with inks:

Card Instructions:
Cut Kraft card stock down to 8 1/2" X 5 1/2, score paper at 5 1/2" mark and fold. Stamp Woodland Growth stamps around perimeter with Versamark Watermark pad. Lightly dab Frayed Burlap distress ink over design. Add Platinum Liquid pearls to tips of each leaf. Stamp sentiment in the center and add black silk bow.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Ribbon Carousel...Color-a-licious!

Glad you could stop by! This week’s Ribbon Carousel challenge is to get colorful!  Use those bright colors you might not usually choose.  Come on…get a little sassy!  You’ll be just like our fabulous sponsor this week….

I have to admit that lately I have shied away from color...I tend to prefer warm, neutral tones and soft, delicate pastels. So to incorporate any color, especially this amount was really stepping out of my current creative comfort zone. (Felt good, though...)  I used some bright Crate Paper Portrait collection dp as my starting point and built off of that. The ribbon is Pink Salmon vintage seam binding and I scrunched it up a bit before adhering it under some coordinating paper/silk flowers. There are also some sweet Pearls Petal Pins by Prima tucked in the side of the floral arrangement as well. They are also available at the Ribbon Carousel. All the flowers are from my hodge-podge drawer that I keep mismatched, one-of-a-kind and odd flowers. Here's a picture of it:

I used Jen del Muro's Sketch For You To Try for my design:

The girls at Totally Stampalicious are giving away a $25 gift certificate to their store to this week’s winner!

We'd love for you to join us this week! Here are the details:

Including the challenge graphic isn't a requirement, but sure is appreciated!
