Dare To Dream

Happy Saturday! I was able to get some major inky time in today, I haven't been able to do that that much lately...getting back from vacation simply puts you one week behind. I think I'm finally caught up and wanted to participate in this week's Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast. Sometimes I can look at their sample pictures forever and not come up with anything, but today was different...the first picture I clicked on clicked in my head. You can see the inspiration photo from Harabu House here, and below is my card based on this picture:

Lots of glitz on this card, the sparkly frame is a die cut from K & Co. and beneath that I made an accordion medallion and covered it with a mini medallion, then a Spellbinder's banner. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!'s Loving Thoughts set. A silk bow, a rhinestone brooch, stick pins and lace finish off the card.
Have a great night~

Heartfelt Creations...Kick Up Your Boots

Happy Wednesday! I've got a Heartfelt Creation's card to show you today, again using the new My Guy collection of stamps. Keep in mind that masculine cards are totally out of my realm, which would explain the fact that I almost had all girly elements eliminated until I added the ribbon. I think, though, the brown and the gingham pattern may give me a pass as to being more on the manly side:

Card Instructions:

Cut Vintage Cream card stock down to 8 1/2" X 5 1/2", score at 5 1/2" and fold. Sponge edges with Walnut Stain distress ink. Cut at 5 1/4" square of Early Espresso card stock, then a 5 1/8" square of  Riding Hood Red and lastly a 5" square of patterned paper. Glue all layers together and adhere to card base. Cut another panel measuring 1 7/8" X 5 1/8" out of the red card stock and emboss. Punch two strips of cream card stock with a border punch and sponge the edges. Adhere under the red panel, making sure to have just the design visible on both the top and bottom edges. Tie brown gingham ribbon with twine and bells around this panel and add copper brads to each scallop on border punch. Adhere to patterned paper square. Stamp sentiment on a 3/4" X 3 1/2" piece of cream card stock and sponge edges. Mat with brown card stock and adhere to top of scalloped design. Die cut one each of a Labels One,then a small and medium size Oval Nestability. While the paper is still in the die, trace the inside of the die with a Sand Spica pen. Remove from die and adorn with Platinum Liquid pearls. Stamp boot design on cream card stock and cut out with coordinating die. Color with Prismacolor pencils and add to Oval shape with dimensionals. Adhere panels to bottom of card and add copper arrows to top of card.
Thanks for coming to visit today, hope you have a great day!

Ribbon Carousel...Anything Goes with Party Time Tuesday

Hi and welcome to this week's Ribbon Carousel challenge where we are being joined by Party Time Tuesday! Our challenge this week is an easy one...anything goes! I wanted to keep this card rather uncluttered (for me...stop shaking your head ;), so I added some Ribbon Carousel ribbon and crocheted lace, a simple medallion and some silvery/shiny accents:

I used some elegant 1" Black Grosgrain/Satin Edge Ribbon to which I added that sparkly buckle. Under that I layered a length of 7/8" Natural Cluny Lace Oval Crochet Ribbon. The medallion was made with a Tim Holtz Rosette die and I added a tinge of Platinum Stickles to the tips. The pearl/rhinestone accent is from the wedding dept. at Michael's.

This week we are sponsoring the ladies over at Party Time Tuesday. Join them for your chance to win a $10 gift certificate from The Ribbon Carousel. And we are using the same challenge so you get a bonus this week. Play along with the ladies in ANYTHING GOES week, and link your creations to both challenge sites!

Your creation can be anything from cards, quilts, sewn items, paper crafts, paintings! *** Be sure to have ribbon, bakers twine, jute twine, lace, thread (basically anything that comes on a spool). ***
We'd love for you to join us this week! Here are the details:
  • Make your NEW creation following the ribbon carousel challenge of the week. Any submissions made prior to the challenge date will be deleted. Be sure to include some type of ribbon, twine, hemp, lace....basically, anything that comes on a spool.
  • Load your creation up onto your blog or a public viewing forum like Splitcoast Stampers, (use the keyword RCC47) with a direct link back to THIS post. Including the challenge graphic isn't a requirement, but sure is appreciated! (A participant of our very first challenge didn't link back or mention our challenge and couldn't be named Top Spool, so don't let that happen to you!)
  • Link up your creation using the Inlinkz button at the bottom of this post. Your image may take a little while to pop up, but don't worry, it will appear shortly.

Come back the Friday after the challenge ends to see if YOU are a Top Spool!

Zva Creative March DT Blog Hop

Zva Creative and our talented Design Team welcome you to our March blog hop!

The Blog Hop begins at Zva Creative's blog! Be sure head on over to check it out! Leave a comment there for a chance to win an extra prize package just for visiting the blog and telling us that you stopped by! You will also find a complete list of all the participating blogs there (in case there is a glitch along the way).

As you know, Zva offers many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals.  We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was will be sharing a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project.  If you like what you see you can find a list of stores and online retailers that sell Zva HERE.
Here's a card that I put together using lots of little Zva accents:

Zva Creative Products used:

CRW-04CB-110 (Small Flourish (A) Pearl - Pink)
CRW-04CB-137 (Dots Pearl - Soft Pink (0.3 cm & 0.5 cm)
FLBK-03CB-132 (mini rose (144 stems) -7/8" or 23 mm -Cream)
FLBK-03CB-102 (mini rose (144 stems)- 1/2" or 12mm - Pink)

If you would like to play along with our design team, just follow along the blog path.  I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way!
Hidden on FIVE of the designer's blogs is a Zva Creative prize package! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.
The Blog Hop starts today, March 26th and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, March 27th.
The 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, March 28th on each of the five winning blogs. The full list will be found on Zva's blog as well. We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday... plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there.

All you need to do is leave a comment on this Blog Hop post... you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. However, the more times you comment along the blog hop path, the more chances you will have to win.

We also thought it would be more fun to add even more chances to win our blog hop prize!  To increase your chances of winning:
* Comment to let us know that you posted on your Facebook page about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)
* Comment to let us know that you "tweeted" about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)
* Comment to let us know that you asked your local store to carry Zva creative products.  If they already do, that's fantastic, maybe you can suggest other products that they don't carry.
*Hop over to Zva's NEW blog and leave a comment there to tell us that you made it there!

The blog hop begins here at Zva Creative's NEW blog. Your next stop is Susan Lui . Enjoy!

A Clean And Simple Verve

Ahh, yes...it is indeed my turn to hostess a Viva La Verve sketch, however, my task was to not only design a clean and simple (CAS) sketch, but to also stick to clean and simple...hmm.  Clean yes, simple...generally no. I think I may have accomplished this task today; here is my card with the sketch I followed below:

I did rotate the middle panel 90° and, of course, added a small flower with a twine bow...cos that's how I roll....  :)

Here are some details about the Viva La Verve sketches:

Every Friday, a Diva will post a sketch for your enjoyment. Your cards, using the sketches, must be uploaded to Splitcoast Stamper's Viva La Verve forum by the last Thursday of the month. The winner will be announced on the next day and will win a $100 gift certificate to VERVE! How awesome is that?! Just a reminder, Verve stamps are NOT required but we love to see you use them. Feel free to flip, rotate, resize, or otherwise alter the sketch as long as we can tell you USED the sketch! This month's keyword with be VLVMar2012 for the whole month of March.

This is the last sketch for the month, so make sure to get all of your samples in soon!
Have a great weekend and thanks for visiting!

Mojo Thursday

Happy Thursday! My family and I just got back from a week long vacation in Florida...we stayed with my parents in Punta Gorda...and wowzers was it beautiful weather there! 85° everyday and lots of sunshine! I also got to meet the ever-so-sweet Savannah O'Gwynn...my Ribbon Carousel teammate! She took me to some craft stores and the time with her just flew by; I was wishing for more hours with her. Anyway, I did find a scant bit of mojo hiding under a rock somewhere so I thought I'd give Mojo Monday a go for today. Here's what I was able to put together:

Here's the sketch I followed (turned 90°):

I used all kinds of different lace, some store bought, some given to me (and beautifully aged, I might add). I managed to squish my fingers in those liquid pearls not once, but twice...in the same exact spot...talk about zoning out.

And here's a picture of me and Savannah:

I'll be back tomorrow as I'm hosting this week's Viva La Verve sketch...would you believe that I'm in charge of a CAS sketch? You'll have to stop back and see if I am actually able to 'keep it simple'. (I don't have high hopes for that~ ;) Have a great day!

Heartfelt Creations...Shadow Box Wedding

Good morning crafty friends! Today I'm showing you a Shadow box that I made for Heartfelt Creations using a wedding theme. As you can probably tell, I'm a neutrals kind of gal when it comes to this kinda thing...black/white/tan are my definite go-to colors. I added lots of book print flowers, flourishes and Heartfelt Creations' beautiful die cuts. Here are quite a few pictures showing various close-ups and the whole project:

Book page daisies:

Final product in the shadow box:

Shadow box instructions: (you'd better grab a cuppa joe~)

Cut designer paper to 8" X 10". Adhere doily to top right corner, ephemera die cut on top of that and then the photo. Add white lace and then slightly overlap black lace over it. Die cut the Bella Rose shapes in both black and cream card stock. While the cream card stock is still in the die, sponge exposed areas. Adhere them to base. Cut out all sizes of Daisy Patch dies from old book print pages. I stacked the pages because they were thin, you'll need about 12 of each shape. Assemble flowers in a descending order, pulling up the edges gently for dimension. Add pearls to the middles. Adhere to Bella Rose die cuts. Add gem flourishes. Punch antique brad through paper and anchor. Sponge a chipboard heart with Walnut Stain distress ink, spray with adhesive glue and add glitter. Sew a piece of pom-pom trim across the center and add twine adorned button. Stamp sentiment onto Labels Eighteen die cut, sponge edges and shadow stamp small design from the Palace Entry PreCut set. Adhere to lower left corner with dimensionals. Lastly add pearl stems from behind the daisies.

Stamps: HCPC3443 Palace Entry PreCut Set, HCPC3354 Classic Message PreCut Set (Heartfelt Creations)
Paper: Mocha Morning dsp (Stampin' Up!), Black, Vintage Cream card stock
Ink: Walnut Brown distress ink (Ranger), Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: HCD712 Bella Rose die cut, HCD703 Daisy Patch dies (Heartfelt Creations), CRB-03CA-108 (Long Flourish Crystal V - Clear), PE-02CB-101(Dots (Pearl)- White (0.3 cm, 0.5 cm & 0.8 cm) Zva Creative, Antique brad (SU!), book pages, pom-pom trim, chipboard heart, lace, black lace, pearl stems, doily, Ephemera die cut (K & co.), button, twine, Labels Eighteen Nestability (Spellbinders), shadow box, dimensionals, dauber, glitter

Heartfelt Creations...Happy Birthday to My Guy

Welcome to Heartfelt Creation's weekly Wednesday posting! I'm continuing our showcasing of the newest "My Guy" collection...funny thing is my husband is named Guy...so these cards I'm making are perfect for him! Here's a card that I've personalized especially for my honey using these wonderfully masculine stamps:

Card Instructions:
Cut Early Espresso card front with corner and border punch. Add 3 3/4" X 5" patterned paper to punched base and hand stitch "X" pattern around perimeter. Stamp "Happy Birthday" from Morning on the Farm PreCut Set twice, once on patterned paper and another time on coordinating patterned paper. Cut out each letter and adhere to card base stamped image with dimensionals. Repeat procedure with "My Guy" sentiment from the My Guy PreCut Set. Add button/twine/bow accent and Antique Copper corners. Glue card front to Vintage Cream card stock base.

Have a great day and thanks for visiting!

Ribbon Carousel ...Time To Celebrate Twine

Good Tuesday morning....Tuesday's mean a new challenge at the Ribbon Carousel blog! This week we got to play with some awesome twine, ala The Twinery who happens to be our sponsor this week! I made this card with my friend Colleen in mind...Saturday was her birthday and if my postal calculations are correct, this card should have made it there in time. I was toying with making the card green, being that her birthday is on St. Patrick's Day, but how many green cards do you think she's going to get? A lot, in my estimation...so I went for the polar opposite...orange! Take a look:

This was certainly a stretch for me, orange is definitely not one of my go to colors, but when I paired it with a bunch of die-cuts, well, I'm happy with the result. I used some Mango Vintage seam binding and atop that I added a Mandarin Twine adorned button. I was attempting to do something fantastic with the twine and I failed miserably. But that doesn't mean that I won't succeed one day....

As I mentioned earlier our fabulous sponsor this week is the Twinery. They are generously offering
a $15 gift certificate to this week’s winner!

The Ribbon Carousel is also participating in a blog hop with members of the Twinery design team!

Happy 2nd Birthday Shabby Tea Room!

Hello and happy Sunday! Today is a very special day at the Shabby Tea Room...it's their 2nd birthday! It's no secret that I love to play along with their challenges...I'm always inspired by the photos and beautiful artwork displayed at their site.  I'm not going to be able to get to this week's Mojo Monday, but I've got a little Mojo that I saved up from last week...channeled into this vintage birthday tag...and I must say I am really pleased with how it turned out! The colors, the ribbons, gems...it came out perfectly:

I was actually making this while I had my husband making some twine flowers for me, which I'll be posting on another card soon...

A slight variation on the above (and during daylight hours):

Loving Thoughts sentiment stamped on a "Lots of Tags" die, both by Stampin' Up! I sponged the edges with some Walnut stain ink (that had residual Vintage Photo left on it.):

Flower is from A.C. Moore...I took my friend Colleen's advice and sprayed it with some Elmer's spray adhesive and salted it with some Martha Stewart Crystal Course glitter:

I received some goodies from Stampin' Up! in the form of these beautiful sentiment stamps...just gorgeous! And I also received happy mail from Corinna at the Ribbon Carousel...she's carrying beautiful cluny lace...and also this satin pleated ribbon...scrumptious! And the papers were from the RC store as well...Almanac collection by Prima...super vintage and lovely!
There are lots of festivities going on over in the Tea room...super giveaways and beautiful inspiration, you have to go check it out!

Have a great day and thanks for visiting!

Viva La Verve...Blessings

Good morning and welcome to this week's Viva La Verve sketch! I want to wish my sweet Diva sister, Maureen, a very happy birthday...tomorrow, but since she's our swell hostess this week, I made this St. Paddy's Day card in her honor:

I used Verve's Lucky You set from our last release and the perfectly sweet coordinating shamrock dies that go with it. I stamped the shamrock image twice, once in Garden Green and then to add a bit of yellow color, I used Stampin' Up!'s Green Galore over top. The combination looks more like the green background paper. I fussy cut out the shamrock and then matted it with the die cut. I outlined the banner shape with some liquid pearls for a little interest.

Here are the deets on the Viva La Verve sketches:
