Ribbon Carousel...Summertime Fun

Hey there....sorry to bombard you with posts today, seems as though a few design team requirements are converging starting today, over the next week. Right now I'm showing you a card that I made for this week's Ribbon Carousel challenge...a Summertime theme. I have to say that I scoured my stamp closet looking for something summer related and apparently by the looks of my hallway, I don't own any. Yikes... I did however find this cute paper from Creative Imaginations called Beach Cottage and it contained a page of patterned paper with  a darling Starfish/Scallop design...so I went with that:

My design inspiration comes from this card here, by Tenia Sanders-Nelson (who happens to be last week's Top Spool!). Over at Splitcoast in the Clean and Simple challenge forum we were to  CASE her design. After I cut out the strip of patterned paper, I layered a length of the Ribbon Carousel's  3/4" Antique Gold Satin/Horizontal Stripes Ribbon underneath both the top and bottom edges. I laid the strip on the card and then very carefully cut off the skewed edges with a pair of sharp fabric scissors. The sentiment is from Close To My Heart's Daydream set and is full of all kinds of beach images...but no beach sentiments. This one was the only one on there. I also included a trio of taupe pearls at the top to break up all that white.

Your creation can be anything from cards, quilts, sewn items, paper crafts, paintings! *** Be sure to have ribbon, bakers twine, jute twine, lace, thread (basically anything that comes on a spool). ***

We'd love for you to join us this week! Here are the details:
  • Make your NEW creation following the ribbon carousel challenge of the week. Any submissions made prior to the challenge date will be deleted. Be sure to include some type of ribbon, twine, hemp, lace....basically, anything that comes on a spool.
  • Load your creation up onto your blog or a public viewing forum like Splitcoast Stampers, (use the keyword RCC66) with a direct link back to THIS post. Including the challenge graphic isn't a requirement, but sure is appreciated! (A participant of our very first challenge didn't link back or mention our challenge and couldn't be named Top Spool, so don't let that happen to you!)
  • Link up your creation using the Inlinkz button at the bottom of this post. Your image may take a little while to pop up, but don't worry, it will appear shortly.
  • Come back the Friday after the challenge ends to see if YOU are a Top Spool!
