Guest Designing With The Shabby Tea Room

Good morning and welcome! This week I have been asked to be a guest designer at the Shabby Tea Room for my win back in January so I'm playing along with this week's sweet inspiration sketch! I got a little nervous when I found out it was centered around cupcakes, however, I put my shabby thinking cap on and instead of using the stamped images that I have involving cupcakes, I decided to 'upcycle' some paper remnants that I had lying around my craft room. Here's a look at my card, then I'll chat:

The cupcake is made with a piece of a box....I simply peeled off a layer of cardboard to reveal the corrugation underneath. The 'icing' is made with gift basket stuffing...I globbed some glue on a paper square and then scrunched a bunch on it before I placed a paper weight on top of it. When it was dry, I trimmed the edges and fluffed it up a bit. The sentiment is from an old Close To My Heart set, "Cupcake Sprinkles". Lots of distressing, sewing, and textiles on this one...to keep the shabbiness factor up. :)

Here's our inspiration photo:

Have a wonderful day!

Stamps: Cupcake Sprinkles (Close To My Heart)
Paper: Vintage Timeless (Kaisercraft), Black, Vintage Cream

  9. You are so very creative and I would not miss your beautiful art work for anything. I am a little bit behind in my posting and snooping around because I have had my grand kids with me and we spend a lot of time together. I still have the youngest as she is out of school. Again, this is gorgeous and so very creative. I love it!!!!
