Viva La Verve...Amazing Grace

Hi and welcome to this week's Viva La Verve sketch! Sankari is hosting this week and has come up with a great sketch for us to use. I put my shabby hat back on today (it's comfortable) to make this lightly colored, delicately embellished card:

Here's Sankari's sketch:

I'll admit that I was a bit perplexed by this sketch initially, I wanted to have those two vertical columns coordinate, and at first I wanted to make them the same, but in addition to my shabby hat, I also had on my thinking cap (that doesn't always happen) and used duplicate color scheme panels, yet different papers. I sponged all edges except the outside perimeter of the card (I wanted that to stand out). The twine cord is delightful to work with, I think I picked it up at Michael's in the jewelry making section, it's actually used for necklaces and bracelets. It's got a little stiffness to it, and you can just grab it in between your two fingers and using your fingernail, pull it through and it curls up beautifully. The sentiment I used is a Verve Plain Jane and I was surprised to learn that I had never used it, it's just so heartwarming and elegant. I'll be using it again, that's for sure!

A few details about our Viva La Verve sketches:

Every Friday, a Diva will post a sketch for your enjoyment. Your cards, using the sketches, must be uploaded to Splitcoast Stamper's Viva La Verve forum by the last Thursday of the month (check for the due date below!) The winner will be announced on the next day and will win a $100 gift certificate to VERVE! How awesome is that?! Just a reminder, Verve stamps are NOT required but we love to see you use them. Feel free to flip, rotate, resize, or otherwise alter the sketch as long as we can tell you USED the sketch!
Have a great weekend and thanks for visiting!

  1. A classic Andrea beauty :) Loving the row of pearls and the fabulous flower cluster and the twine. Going to have to go and check out that section of Mike's (after the ribbon bin of course lol). Have a fabulous day (((hugs)))

  2. Ahhhhhh....I always go weak at the knees when you put your shabby hat on and show us all how to do it properly and to perfection. All those graceful neutral hues offset by just a gorgeous accent of powder blue. I just adore this card. Let's hope the shabby hat stays on for a bit longer lol Pxx

  4. Hi Andrea,
Well I must agree with Paul Browning here, lets hope your shabby hat stays on for a bit longer. I love your shabby chic cards and even though all your other work is stunning, I think shabby is your strength. Todays card is be.au.ti.ful!! You can see the sketch in the card but you have made it your own. Fab!
    All the best Linda

  7. Wow Andrea! Stunning! I am on a mission to find that sentiment. I think it would be perfect for some of my Operation Write Home cards. Your dsp's are gorgeous! I love the delicate colors. I have to admit, I have been trying to imitate your bows with the twine (I even got mine at Michaels a couple of weeks ago LOL). But mine never seem to come out as pretty as yours. I need your secret!!! :D
    hugs,
    Ellen
