Ribbon Carousel...Non-Traditional Colors

This week at the Ribbon Carousel we’re changing things up in a Non-traditional kinda way! Suzanne is challenging us to use NON-Traditional colors for our creations. Making a valentine card? How about NOT using red or pink, or not too much of it anyways? Creating a gorgeous winter scene? Try it with creams instead of whites. Whatever you’re making….try a non-traditional palette as a challenge!

I decided to use some Spring-y yellow and greens to make my non-traditional Valentine. There is a strip of Natural Burlap Striped ribbon across the middle with some Alp Green Vintage seam binding to add some color. Corinna has such a wide variety of ribbons...it's fun for me to see which different kinds I can mix and match.

So, what else can we do in a Non-traditional manner this week? How about a JOINT challenge (One challenge, two sponsors on two challenge sites, twice as many chances to win) with our amazing sponsor this week, the fabulous Paper and Such!

Paper and Such will be giving one lucky randomly drawn participant a $15 gift certificate to their store! And…..RibbonCarousel.com is sponsoring their challenge this week, so there is twice as much inspiration and twice as many chances to win! And yes, you can enter your creation at the RCC AND at the Paper and Such challenge.

***Your creation can be anything from cards, quilts, sewn items, paper crafts, paintings! Be sure to have ribbon, bakers twine, jute twine, lace, thread (basically anything that comes on a spool). ***

We'd love for you to join us this week! Here are the details:
  • Make your NEW creation following the ribbon carousel challenge of the week. Any submissions made prior to the challenge date will be deleted. Be sure to include some type of ribbon, twine, hemp, lace....basically, anything that comes on a spool.
  • Load your creation up onto your blog or a public viewing forum like Splitcoast Stampers, (use the keyword RCC37) with a direct link back to THIS post. Including the challenge graphic isn't a requirement, but sure is appreciated! (A participant of our very first challenge didn't link back or mention our challenge and couldn't be named Top Spool, so don't let that happen to you!)
  • Link up your creation using the Inlinkz button at the bottom of this post. Your image may take a little while to pop up, but don't worry, it will appear shortly.
  • Come back the Friday after the challenge ends to see if YOU are a Top Spool!

  8. Hi Andrea, I love this non-traditional idea. It has produced a stunning card and Colleens comment is right for us all. We can all use up those 'yellow liquid pearls' so to speak. I know I have lots of stash I hardly use that really could do with an airing.
    All the best Linda
