Play Date Cafe {hearts} WPlus9

This week at the Play Date Cafe we received some fun stamps to play with so generously sent to us by WPlus9 stamp company. In fact, this is not the first card that I've made with these beauties, check out these cards here and here. Julie has come up with some irresistible color choices for us this week and I was particularly intrigued by the photo she used. I loved to play Monopoly as a kid and I would always pick the shoe. (I don't know why, either.) If you think about it, the Monopoly board is a treasure trove of colors. Take a look at the colors we are using this week:

To me, another set of powerful colors. The gray is perfect as it sets the background for the hints of color that I added to my card. Here it is using WPlus9 Mehndi Medallions stamp set:

I used a silver doily as my backdrop and to that I added a gray Lacy Nestability die cut, then layered a Sahara Sand circle onto that and lastly the sentiment adorned with a border of Silver Pearl Liquid Pearls.

We have a special guest playing along with us this week, we would love to welcome Dawn Woleslagle from WPlus9's Design Team. WPlus9 is also offering up a prize this week to the lucky perk. The prize is a "winner's choice" stamp set! How cool is that!

CASE Study...

Our last week with super duper talented Julee Tilman at CASE Study challenges...I have so enjoyed CASEing her fabulously designed cards...almost takes all the work out of it! This week we have a real stunner to CASE. Take a look here:

Wow, this card is striking in all of it's green glory! I was inspired by the gorgeous border trim at the bottom, the large sentiment and the design. I chose to CASE all of these aspects while changing the colors, the placement of the bow/sentiment and omitting the butterfly. This is what I've come up with:

I used one of my favorite Verve sentiments One Person. The paper was "borrowed" from my buddy Stephanie when we went away a few weeks ago. I used a Labels Five for my focal panel and sponged the inside lightly for a little pink glow.
This week we have a wonderful sponsor, Sweet n Sassy Stamps! Check out their site for some great digis!
Time to see how the other CASE Study gals made some magic with Julee's beauty:

Mojo Monday on Tuesday

I did spend a lot of time yesterday trying to make this sketch work for me but alas, I wasn't getting it so I had to put everything down and wait another day. I used this recycled medallion that I retrieved from my "doesn't work now, but maybe in the future it will" pile. Sometimes I'm glad I don't throw anything out. Other times, as I'm staring at a 18" pile of scrap paper which seems to be multiplying exponentially as I type, I'm not so glad. Maybe if I ignore it, it'll go away. Anyway, here is my Mojo Monday card for this week:

Here's the sketch I used, designed by Teresa Kline:

I used an old favorite paper of mine, Cappella by Basic Grey. When I first discovered it I bought 3 packs, but used it so often I got sick of it. I'm not sick of it anymore. That cool sentiment and border stamp are from WPlus9. I have a feeling that you're going to be seeing this stamp set again in the very near future...
Have a great night...Steph and I are going to a stamp camp! Yay!

March's Last Viva La Verve

Wow, last week was busy with Verve's new release! In addition to that I worked this weekend so I really needed to get caught up in my stamping room...after helping my husband clean the house on Saturday night. Sounds like a fun evening, huh? I came home from work and he was vacuuming a chair with an attachment I had never seen before. Our cat favors this chair because she has a nice view of the outside, hence it gets adorned with cat hair. As he's vacuuming I ask him if he just bought the attachment, "No," he says, "We've had it".  Oops, I guess I don't vacuum enough.  Anyway, the point of that spiel was that I also did some "straightening" in my craft room as well, however, I wouldn't go as far as to say I "cleaned" it. Here's my Viva La Verve card using some scraps that I found:

Here is Sankari's sketch that I used:

I decided to shab this card up a bit, I used some trim that I purchased at Jo-Ann's and then I adhered some CTMH buttons in a row. I used an old book page as the backdrop for my sentiment, added a glittered chipboard heart negative and a few other accents.
Make sure to load up your creations using this sketch to the Viva La Verve forum on Splitcoast and remember to use VLVMar2011 as your keyword so that we can view every one's projects in one place.
Have a great day!

Verve's March After Release Party

Did you all get to check out the amazing Verve sets that were released on Friday? We had a great time at the Verve release party at Splitcoast and to keep the celebration going, the Divas have all made a card/project that they have deemed their very favorite from March's release. My card was made using the Egg-stra Special set:

The Verve Divas have all linked up their favorite creations on the Verve blog and you can check them out here.
Thanks for all the wonderful comments, I truly appreciate everyone taking the time give encouragement!

Verve's New Release Spotlight...My Favorite Peeps

I don't think that I have to tell anyone here that chicks rule. Us girls already know that. However, now we can let all our peeps know too! Today's blog hoppin' adventure is highlighting the new Chicks Rule stamp set by Verve. I chose to use this sweet chickie popping out of a Easter basket holding a cutsie flower from this fabulous set of stamps. Here's my "favorite peep" card:

I colored the chickie with Copics and the basket and bow were done using Prismacolor pencils. I really do need to use these more often, 1) because I've seen artists get amazing results with them and 2) that's the only way that I'm going to get amazing results...I have to practice!  I used Verve's new Charming Oval die to emphasize my sentiment which I've adorned with some small pearls and a little distressing.
This Friday, March 25th, is Verve's release party over at Splitcoast Stampers. And because a new release is something to celebrate, we’ve hidden a prize on one of the participating blogs each day! Just leave a little comment love as you hop around to be entered into a drawing to win that day’s featured stamps! Deadline for comment entries is 6PM Mountain Friday, March 25th. Winners will be announced at our release party on Friday night!

Verve New Release Spotlight...Think Spring!

For my Play Date Cafe post click here. For CASE Study click here.

Welcome back to day 2 of Verve's March release spotlight hop! Today not only are we introducing another fabulous stamp set, but also some wonderfully versatile new dies! Speaking of newness, I am so happy to see my hyacinths popping out of the ground and the buds on the forsythia trees emerging! I'm thrilled to see that Spring is finally on it's way! For my card today, I'm illustrating my gratitude that winter is coming to an end with my "Think Spring" card here using Verve's new Egg-stra Special stamp set:

I used Jen del Muro's March Sketch for You to Try template for my design:

My card is actually a sneaky sneak peek as the butterfly die is going to be introduced tomorrow, however, it went so well with my card that I left it there...  :) I paper pieced the butterfly and gave it some dimension with a pop-dot. I used two die-cuts and cut down the pink one to center it onto the blue butterfly. I also added some pink gems for the body.
Today, you'll notice that the other Diva's are showcasing a brand new set of dies that are banners. These are going to come in so handy for me as I normally use sentiments in place of images on my cards.

Be sure to visit the other Diva's blogs for some beautiful creations using this stamp set and banner dies. While you're visiting, make sure you leave some blog love along the way as there is a prize hidden along the way! One lucky commenter will win the day's featured set! Deadline for comment entries is 6PM Mountain time Friday, March 25th. Winners will be announced at our release party on Friday night. Here's a list of today's hoppers:

Play Date Cafe Visits Lizzie Anne Designs

Check this out,  the Play Date Cafe is teaming up with Lizzie anne designs this week for some fun and stamping! We also have a very special guest designer playing along with us as well, we welcome Taylor Usry!  Taylor designs for Lizzie anne and will be joining us in our quest to make beautiful cards using the Play Date's color story. Ruby has made it easy for us and has put together a wonderful palette of colors this week, colors that remind me that although the calender says Spring, the weather here on the East coast definitely has not caught up with that concept! However, in working with these dreamy colors, I almost feel like I can finally go outside and do some gardening! Take a look at these rich hues:

I decided again to go CAS with my card, these are very strong colors together and I think that keeping them in small quantities really gives them a bigger impact. Here's my card using Lizzie anne design's Dream Big monthly mix stamps:

These butterflies turned out to be the perfect colors to match Ruby's cool colors. I flourished some pearls behind them like they were floating dreamily on a cloud. (A button embossed cloud, but hey, it's my daydream.) The sentiment is from this stamp set here:

The gals at Lizzie anne designs are giving away this super cute prize package valued at $39.95 to one talented crafter:

CASE Study...The Heart That Loves

Our fourth week with the uber talented Julee Tilman as our Muse at CASE Study! I am so enjoying CASEing her cards, she is a master at card making! Take a look that this beauty that is our inspiration this week:

Julee's designs are always to eye pleasing and balanced. In addition to her design I was also drawn to the the silky ribbon and the pearls.  I chose to CASE all these elements while changing the colors/papers, the sentiment and the sentiment panel shape. I also didn't stamp my card at all...shh..don't tell anyone...

I used K & Company's Julianne line of papers and the die cut was from my stash, so I can't give you an origin for it..sorry. This card is pretty much CAS for me as I didn't over do any embellishments.

Take a look at how Julee's card inspired the rest of the CASE Study team:

Verve's New Release Spotlights...You Quack Me Up

Yeah...the day's finally here when the Verve Divas get to introduce some darling new stamps from Verve! Julee has come up with some downright adorable stamps in celebration of a pending Spring (hopefully sooner rather than later) and Easter! The first sets that we are introducing today are a Plain Jane called Hope Perches and a sa-weet little set called Lucky Ducky.
Here's my earth-toned card for the Hope Perches stamp:

I used Charmaine's Viva La Verve Sketch for the second week of March as my template, however I mirrored her design:

Card Ingredients:
Stamps: Hope Perches Plain Jane (Verve Stamps)
Paper: Flora & Fauna Ledger dp (K & Co.), Early Espresso (Stampin' Up!)
Ink: Walnut Stain distressed Ink (Ranger)
Accessories: Infinity & String Lace border punch (Martha Stewart), Cream Picot trim ribbon (Offray), pearls (Prima), Rustic Jute button twine (Papertrey Ink), needle & thread
Size: 4 1/4" 5 1/2"

The next set we're highlighting is an adorable set called Lucky Ducky which, you guessed it, consists of the cutest little ducks! I decided to pair mine together like buddies which reminds me of my bestest buddy, Irene. We can really make each other laugh and I consider myself a Lucky Duck to be her friend!
Here's my chummy ducky card:

The ducks are colored with Copics (brushing up my skills) and I used a combination of different Stampin' Up! designer papers as well as some Martha accessories, namely seam binding and a String Lace border punch.

Card Ingredients:
Stamps: Lucky Ducky (Verve Stamps)
Paper: Sunny Garden, Tea Party dp (Stampin' Up!)
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: String Lace border punch, Apricot craft seam binding (Martha Stewart),  gems (K & Co.), button (CTMH), Blossom & Small Scalloped Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Copics, Word Window punch (Stampin' Up!), dimensionals, sewing machine, Rustic Jute button twine (Papertrey Ink)

A Waltzingmouse Banner

I have to admit that I had a hard time with this week's Waltzingmouse sketch, the banners just weren't speaking to me. I don't have a banner die, so for me to free cut 3 or 4 banners all the same size? Not happening. Then I remembered this beautiful lace from my stash that looks somewhat like the banner design, so I incorporated it into the composition of my card. Here's what I've come up with:

I took this photo on the edge of my tub because that happened to be where I had the best indirect sunlight. I recently ordered a photo box but realized when I opened it that 4' X 4' X 4' is a tad to big for a 4 1/2" card, as my hubby so kindly pointed out to me. I guess I didn't catch the size when I was looking it up...it's one of those pop-ups and I can't get it back into that little square sack! Ugh!

Here's the sketch I used:

On a side note, I stayed up waaaay to late last night, but I can always count on my buddy Mittens to keep me company, even if she can't keep her eyes open:

I have two chairs in my craft room, one for me and the other for whoever wants to either craft or kibitz with me. Or for whoever needs a nap.
Have a great night!

Stamps: Many Blessings (Verve Stamps)
Paper: Silhouette dp (Close to My Heart)
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Deco Fan border punch (Martha Stewart), lace, white craft seam binding, Antique brad (Stampin' Up!), pearls (Kaisercraft), Rustic Jute button twine (Papertrey Ink),
Size: 4 3/4" X 5 1/2"

Mojo Monday...Thanks for Caring

It's been a few weeks since I've done a Mojo Monday card and today I had some time in between the orthodontist's office and meatloaf. I'm using some new papers that I found at Michael's this weekend with poor hubby in tow, but in all fairness, I did drag my feet through Home Depot prior to this visit...
Here's my Mojo 183 card for this week:

I've included a few close-up shots (of course) of the particularly girly parts:

The butterfly was made using a Martha Stewart butterfly punch and I also added some Petal Pink liquid pearls, a spritz of Raspberry spray ink and a couple of pearls/gem for the body. Here's the sketch I used:

I'm gearing up to show you some new Verve starting with a blog hop on Wednesday. You'll not want to miss these downright adorable sets!
Time to make the donuts meatloaf!--Just kidding, I had my daughter make it and it's in the oven! Mmm, Mmm!

Stamps: Thankful Hearts (Verve Stamps)
Paper: Sweet Nectar dp (K & Co.), White, Kraft (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Pink ribbon (Offray), Bubble Bath border punch, Butterfly punch & gems/pearls (Martha Stewart), Rustic Jute button twine (Papertrey Ink), Petal Pink Liquid Pearls (Ranger), Raspberry spray ink (Inkadinkado), paper roses (Recollections), dimensionals, sewing machine
Size:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
