Treat Yourself

Good Saturday afternoon! I've got plenty of craft time today as we are all home waiting for the appearance of a hurricane later today, the rain has started, but no wind yet. So, I've been catching up on projects, organizing and trying my hand at the Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast. This week, we are checking out Urbanrose, designer of charms and all kinds of sweet trinkets. Here is a card I made based on one of their elegant lockets:

My inspiration is based on this locket here, it's wonderfully elegant in gold and black. I heat embossed the gold background paper with gold embossing powder using Stampin' Up!'s Creative Elements stamps. The middle panel is embossed with the same design, but in black. I hand cut out the sentiment panel and the mat that is behind it. The doily is from Martha Stewart and was originally white, but I smashed it into a Onyx Black stamp pad to get that deep black color. To that I added some Platinum liquid pearls. The gold rose is a button from my stash and that's adhered to some Stampin' Up! black organza ribbon...which I think is discontinued :(
Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Gorgeous embossing on the card and what an elegant colour combo! Love the pearls on the doily. You can get that organza ribbon at Mike's so no worries :) Hoping you just get a lot of rain and not a lot of wind (((hugs)))

  3. Wow, it's full of gothic charm and sophistication. Love the opulent feel of this sumptuous card. Sounds like you had a lot of fun putting it together too, smashing doilies into ink (that made me laugh). Once again, stay safe my friend & I hope the storm passes by soon without much incident. I'm thinking of you when the news is showing us what's going on over there. Pxx
