Hello Summer! This is my absolute favorite time of the year, warm weather and sunny skies! To celebrate these grandest of days I've made a chunky butterfly card, mimicking blue skies and commemorating the lazy days of summer which are finally upon us! My card is using this week's
Waltzingmouse sketch challenge...they are celebrating as well! 52 sketches and a whole year of hosting their challenge blog! As participants, we were asked to choose one out of the previous year's sketches and make a card based on that design. Here is my card, using the sketch below:
I've included some close ups, here's one of the butterflies:
The organdy ribbon with the tiniest of roses:
A close-up of the many layers, popped up with dimensionals:
Sketch number 37:
Confetti, confetti...everywhere! I had to do a little measuring on this one, as I wanted my layers different sizes than are listed in Martha's instructions. I measured the repeat on this String Lace punch and came up with 3/8". I decided that I wanted two repeats in between each layer, so each layer is 3/4" smaller than the next largest (say, what?) Essentially, the largest panel (uncut) is 5 3/4" followed in descending order 5", 4 1/4", 3 1/2". Cut out, they end up smaller (obviously). I cut up a card kit I found on sale at TJ Maxx and layered a piece of dp on each square. I then popped up each layer with a thick dimensional. I had to add a coupla strategic butterflies where my punches didn't exactly line up...yay for embellishments!
Have a great day and thanks for visiting!

Okay, my keyboard just shorted out due to all the drool on it!! This is simply GORGEOUS, Andrea!! Those layered panels are so airy and of course, I just love the butterflies!! Just glad I didn't have to do the math or the confetti would have been a foot deep in my room LOL!

Thank you ever so much for your wonderful comments on my blog. They mean so much coming from a crafter who's work I admire so highly. This card is, as always, exquisite and beautifully designed. As you may already have noticed, I'm heavily influenced by your art and style. I visit lots of blogs and see many different high quality creations of which i'm in awe, but when I open my ireader page and see there's a new post on your blog, it is the one I eagerly go to look at. There's always a tingle of excitement when your name pops up as I know I'm going to see another awesome creation. You also have an enviable talent for taking photos of your work too. If your creativity and inspiration only partially rub off on me, i'd be delighted. Keep creating, keep posting and you'll have one very happy fan in the UK. Pxx
