Mojo Monday 147 Embossed Embossing

This is my take on this week's Mojo Monday sketch. I was trying to go for a focal point (point taken, I think) that was really bold. I've had this Stampin' Up stamp set forever and probably use it more than the rest of my SU collection. I thought it would be the perfect set to attempt a challenge at Splitcoast called Try a New Technique. I particularly enjoy this challenge because it really makes you work outside of your comfort zone. (Which, by the way, is a good thing!) I have never even thought of dry embossing and image that I've already heat embossed. When I use my Tombows and watercolor paper, I always heat emboss my image, usually with a clear embossing powder so that the colors don't run outside the image once I wet them. It's hard to tell from the picture, but after I colored the image, I ran it through my Sizzix machine in a Cuttlebug Leafy Branch embossing folder. Interesting look, I think I need to keep playing with combinations to see what shows up better.

This is week number 147 of Mojo Monday sketch challenges and the template for the above card:

This card is really big also, I needed to enlarge it to fit 4 pictures of the flowers. Shortly after I photographed this picture, all of my ribbon started unruffling. I gotta be quick around here.

Thanks for checking in!

Your card is beautiful - great bold colors together and a great technique to try as well.

  2. Lovely card. I can't really see the double embossing, but I love the dramatic effect of the red flower on the primarily black card.

  5. Love the black and white, with a pop of color. I recently used that same stamp for a Queen for the Day challenge on SCS.
